What your SIL has told you sounds very dodgy to me. However it is worth remembering that the OB may have access to more information than us which is making him wary of encouraging the pregnancy to continue beyond Friday. The tight vagina comment is just laughable though. How does your SIL feel? Is she unhappy? If she is it is very important she seeks a 2nd opinion so she can be confident with the decision she makes, whether that be to refuse consent to the CS, or go ahead with what the doctor has recommended.
I wish her all the well in whatever she decides.
Perhaps the OB is just erring on the side of caution as rupturing could lead to a very sad outcome of all. My sister was booked in for a c section at 38 weeks because of risk of rupture with second pregnancy. Unfortunately this did in fact happen at 37 weeks - sadly resulting in the loss of her daughter and a hysterectomy for her. She lost 4 litres of blood and nearly her life and was on life support for two days after.
So although your SIL is wanting a VBAC it may not be the best and safest thing.
I hope she gets her longed for birth, complication free with a healthy bub.
Cheers Trea
Thanks for all the replies. The Dr is known for taking the cautious approach at the slightest hint of anything. Hopefully all goes well for her tomorrow
Trea, I'm sorry to hear about your sister's outcome![]()
Thanks UA - even though it was 10 years ago it still hits me when I least expect it and the memory of holding her and thinking she just looks like she needs to be warmed up is something I will carry forever.
Please let us know how your SIL goes.
Cheers Trea
Belle - Will started out in labour as posterior, then turned around during the final stages of labour - EG at an hour before he arrived, he was still facing the wrong way. So they do turn during labour, but I think the mum has to be able to move around a lot to do that, and if they are monitoring her that may not be easy. Also I don't think they can monitor while in water? which is where I did all my moving.
Good luck to your SIL and hope she gets a healthy self and bub after delivery. However she has the bub.
