The grins are gorgeous! DD2 gulps it down so fast she usually comes off choking and spluttering, so I appreciate the slower, less intense sessions where she comes off several times to grin and talk to me.
OWWWWWW!! Piranha-baby is back! He's also been chewing on his fingers and toys a lot, dribbling and slightly red cheeks so I suspect there may be some teeth moving about but his tendency to clamp down with those little gums and then pull my nipple through is seriously painful!
So far I'm saying a firm No, that hurts and putting him down or turning him around so he's not facing me. But I hope this phase passes sooner rather than later...
Oh CK - ow!!! I don't look forward to BF with a toothy DD. actually she's just started shoving her fingers and as much of her hand as she can into her mouth and is drooling lots more but she's only 9 and a half weeks so I think she's just exploring her world.
I found with ds that the only time he ever 'bit' me.was before he had teeth but was obviously teething. People made comments about biting once he had teeth but he never did - although he did pull off a few times & nipple being pulled through teeth isnt the best
Things are still going well here - although it's funny getting used to a different baby whose feeding habits are different. Ds was a 2 hourly around the clock feeder (& just one side at a time) until he was around 12 m but dd seems to prefer periods of cluster feeding & then 3-4.5hrs before she feeds again. Last night she only woke twice  not that im complaining (or crazy enough to think this will last!!!).
just popping in 18 months today still BFing when im not at work usually at nap time after lunch i work nights so shes started sleeping through and sleeping in her bed
Any of the other 2012 mums still need 2 hands to breastfeed? i'm sure by this time (3 months) with DD i only needed an arm behind her neck. With DS, i have to have one hand behind his neck and the other supporting my breast - and he still squeaks and loses proper attachment.
Had my dd's 2 year mchn appt and was asked when i was going to wean, and was told that maybe that s why she is hard to get to bed
Hoti - i mostly use 1 hand but i feed dd on a pillow & use the hand to support my breast. I had to use 2 today though cos i was at the footy & needed a hand to support dd as well. I prefer being at home though because i can use my free gabd to browse bb on my phone or read a book (while ds runs riot)
Depends on what side I'm feeding on for me - left I'm ok with 1, right I usually need 2 because my boob is a bit bigger on that side and the nipple points downwards so is hard for him to get to. Right royal pain in the butt to be honest
I'm only using one hand except when getting ds2 on to start with and have been from the start (after first feed in delivery room) - experience from ds1 means I know positioning still as I've only had 6 1/2 mth bf break.

No improvement on the piranha-baby front - it's starting to get to me a bit, it's so frustrating and damn painful! He does it mainly at the start of a feed, he's also leaning back and wriggling a lot trying to look at everything. He'll grizzle because he's hungry but at the same time it's almost like he's struggling to switch off enough to settle down and feed, he might miss something important. My saying no and putting him down usually just results in a big cheesy grin (hard to stay annoyed with him at that point) but a few minutes later frustrated yelling because he can't do something he wants to do. Ish, anyone got any suggestions, or even just reassurance that this does end and he'll learn some booby manners?
Arghhhhh! I'm so not enjoying BF overnight DD feeds oh, I don't know, 8-10 times overnight. So not necessary but it's the only way she'll settle. I'm having some major breastfeeding aversion overnight. I just can't wait for a feed to be over, and I really dread her waking up because I know how it will end. Ick. It just feels terrible, I just want to pull her off Any tips on how to deal with this?
PZ- I'm the same with Dd and it was the only way she would settle in the end I just had to cut some of te night feeds out gradually. And sometimes that meant just walking around with her, she settled eventually and it was more exhausting but now she doesn't feed overnight at all. If you feel you have to pull her off do it cos that feeling is horrible and give it a few minutes and try again if you need too.
PZ :hugs: aversion sucks. can you offer water and cuddles each feed first (before she gets cranky) and try to delay the feed, hoping she will settle enough for sleep. it's not a quick solution but eventually she might reach for the water bottle rather than boob. do you spoon DD? i found turning away from my dd better, cos the boobs weren't in her face.
my dd night weaned when i was about 3 months pregnant (she was older, 15 months) cos she was sick, burning up, and not enough milk so would take water as well. i then kept offering the water. if she didn't, i probably would have had to actively night wean or at least limit it to 2-3 times (cos i felt like throwing her across the room).
during the day with aversion, ( i have a thread somewhere) i would sometimes have to just take her off. i started to do a countdown, so she had some warning that the feed had to be cut short. 10,9,8,...1, ta da! and then would get up and dance or do something distracting. This also comes in handy now if i am feeding DD and then the baby DS needs me. THere is less tantrums if i give her warning that we have to finish.
Hi girls - just wondering if u can help? My little guy normally does standard poo schedule of a poo every day or so but today he has done 4 poos!!! Would this suggest diarrhea or just something that occasionally happens to BF bubs? Cuz it's kinda hard to tell the difference between normal and diarrhea pop since its always runny lol!
He isnt upset or otherwise acting any differently of anything he seems to have a much easier time pooing with less noise and grunting but that could just be he is getting the hang of it now?
How old is bub? Can't see on my phone - could be normal - my 2 1/2 week old still poops most feeds (probably about every 2 feeds average if i take the night non pooping feeds in) although not as frequently as ds1 did (he was every feed for sometime- still hasn't got to more than 2 days between poo)If bub is happy and still feeding well and wearing as usual I wouldn't fuss too much but others may have different experiences.

Could be just a change in his bowel habits and unless he appears sick or unwell I wouldn't be concerned. But bugger about having more poo'y nappies to change.
