Oh another question... and this one probably seems a bit silly... but anyone can eat these right?
My DP won't eat them cos I told him they were to help with my milk supply...
Is it bad if I eat too many![]()
Or should I say is it possible to eat too many...
Is there a minimum I should eat and a max I should eat??
The first batch I made lasted only 3 days![]()

It's one that was given to me on here...
Housepoet's Famous Lactation Boosting Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip & Flaxseed cookies
Serves: 6 dozen cookies
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
* 1 cup butter or marg
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 cup brown sugar
* 4 tablespoons water
* 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal (can be found at any local health food store)
* 2 large eggs
* 1 teaspoon vanilla
* 2 cups flour
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them
* 1 cup or more chocolate chips
* 2 tablespoons of brewers yeast* (be generous) (IT MUST BE BREWERS YEAST, NO SUBSTITUTIONS)
Directions:
* Preheat oven at 375 degrees F.
* Mix together 2 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes.
* Cream (beat well) margarine and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well. Stir flaxseed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine mix. Beat until blended.
* Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips. Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats then chips.
* Scoop or drop onto baking sheet, preferably lined with parchment or silpat. The dough is a little crumbly, so it helps to use a scoop.
* Bake 8-12 minutes, depending on size of cookies.
Anyone can eat themThey're yummy huh?
I wouldn't think you can overdose... its all natural.. I'm sure I ate a whole batch in a few days too. I think DH had a few, but I probably didn't tell him too much about it![]()
Way too yummy! I just realised my first batch didn't even make 3 days... I made them while doing dinner on the 14th![]()
This works so well!! I was able to relactate using this. The secret ingredient to these is really the brewers yeast and the flaxseed (linseed) meal (as well as the extra calories)... so you can really turn anything into milk-producing foods. I made a choccy cake but hubby and I ate it all in one and a half days!! So I had to make something a little more healthy like low fat yoghurt muffins. Seriously though if you end up making more milk and you're able to feed your baby more as long as you don't go overboard like I did with the cake you'll probably burn it off anyway through breastfeeding. The midwife at hospital told me lots of protein will help your milk supply so if ever it's a bit low I have bacon and eggs - always picks it up for me. I do find my milk is affected if I don't eat enough or I have too much sugary foods and not enough fattening/proteiny foods.
Oh and I got sick of hubby eating all my milk-making foods so I told him it'd make him make milk if he ate it. I knew it wouldn't but at least whatever I cooked would last a little bit longer!!
Hi ladies,
so glad i found this thread, however, i was just wondering, where you buy "actual" brewers yeast from? - thanks![]()
From the home brew(as in beer) section in Woolworths/safeway Coles ect.
Lauren, too funny!
No problem! If it wasn't for my mum I would have been stuck too.
That recipe sounds yum!! Would it be okay to use these cookies as part of a healthier eating/exercise plan? I've promised myself and DH that I would lose 2 dress sizes by Christmas (shouldn't be hard to do as it's all baby weight, I *stacked* it on while pg), but so far nothing seems to be shifting the pounds, and I'm scared to hit the dieting/treadmill even harder for fear of losing my milk. I'm so disappointed because everyone told me BFing would make me drop kilos like I wouldn't believe but I have yet to see it!
Just have to add my two bobs worth...I made these cookies for the first time just the other day, and they're FANTASTIC! thanks to housepoet for donating the recipe!
Hi ladies,
I swore by these when I was having supply issues with a hungry bubba about 18 months ago!
The cookies are calorie laden unfortunately but in the short term i took the view i needed to do what i had to do to get the milk flowing!
I dropped the choc chips and popped in dried fruit like apricots and they were nice enough.
I found another way to limit my intake was to divide the mixture into say 3 or 4 rolls, freeze a couple of rolls of raw dough rolled up in plastic and only bake half of the mixture.
They still had the same effect defrosted and baked as baked fresh. I also had some in reserve for short notice then too.
Also someone ask where do you get brewers yeast - I found my local supermarkets did not stock it however my local health food store did. Apparently much cheaper to buy from the health food store!
Good luck girls!
Cheerio Belinda.
Oh these sound great... and dangerous lol Just wanted to subscribe cos I might need the recipe soon![]()
Ohhhh, I am subscribing too just in case. They sound delicious.
Glamourcide - I never lost weight when breast feeding my second DS. It bugged me because I didn't gain anything through my pregnancy that wasn't baby related, but put on weight whilst breast feeding him. I am keeping everything crossed that I don't get the same thing when Bumpty gets here.
These sounds yummo....I had no idea this sort of stuff could really increase supply that much...?!?! I'm about to start expressing again, so this might be another trick!
Thanks ladies...I love baking too (and eating.....)
