    Reheating EBM?

I know you're not supposed to microwave EBM, so we normally put it in a little pot of hot (not boiling) water, and shake and fuss around with it until it's warmed to body temperature. Anyone who has done this knows that it can take *quite* a little while.

I don't fancy DH's chances for being able to do this 4+ times a day when I go back to work next month, with a 22 month old running around, and with a 2 month old getting increasingly hungry ... !

So we're looking at buying a percolator (which everyone now seems to call a "bottle and food warmer".

    Does anyone have one?

Are they really better than microwaving?

Is there a big difference between the $50 versions and the $150 versions, other than how much room they will take up on the bench?

    Tell me all.

Have you tried giving it not heated - give that a go first, in case your baby doesn't actually care!

I think they would be better than microwaving. I was told that breastmilk is a living organism and microwaving kills off all the goodies in it so a bottle warmer should be fine I would think but I don't have one so can't give you any recommendations. Good luck

Is the perculator thingy the bottle warmers that avent and other brands sell? My friend has one and u can program it to either formula or EBM to reheat from room temp, fridge or freeZer. She used it alot for her formulA and I think it was about $50?

She has offered It to me for when I return to work cuz I like u doubt hubby's patience in heating ebm proberly but my little guy seems to happily take the EBM hot or cold but heading into winter that might change so will prob borrow my friends. I think it still does take up to 4mins to reheat tho.

Otherwise can u just leave first bottle on the bench and at each feed get the next bottle out? It should be at room temp atleast by next feed? That is what I do when I am heading out.

DS was always happy with it cold. Sometimes i'd run the sealed bottle under warm water to help it all emulsify again

I've been told that cold liquids can be bad for their digestive systems this you ... ?

We found the avent one at a really good price, and so have picked that up.

    Thanks, all!

Ours is avent nutter I generally leave the first bottle for the day on the bench (expressed that morning) and Dh uses the warmer for the midday bottle. I wasn't keen on pots of water lying around with a toddler either.
