I think it's great that you are sharing this so that others who are doing the same thing can feel safe to come out of the closet. Research done a few years ago suggests that 1 in 3 babies are still waking in the night at age 2, but so few people talk about it that mums all feel alone. Thank you for starting this thread
FWIW, I have found that children wake for a variety of reasons at all ages. My 5yo has been waking fairly often in the night since starting school this year, so I think night waking is something that parents deal with for a very long time.
I do the milk run every night DS and DD both need a milk drink from a sippy cup over night and usually a refill. DD though is also still BF and it depends on the night as to which one she prefers. She threw the cup at me last night in frustration and said "boo" so I guess she lets me know which option she is after
I see nightwaking as part of little people. I wake through the night and used to roll over to snuggle next to DH. Why shouldn't they!! Sleep is over-rated anyway And considering DD is not looking like weaning any time soon, it looks like soon there will be two waking overnight for feed
You aren't alone although my DD is younger than your DS (15 mo) I can still see her waking for feeds at 2yrs of age (not sure if i should laugh or cry when i think about that!!!! lol)... its' very tiring but also nice at the same time.
We have tried night weaning on and off... it's hard!! You are doing a wonderful thing for your DS.
MR - thanks for that post, that makes us Mum's feel so much better knowing others are still waking frequently also! and I've often wondered how many toddlers still wake in the night (and kids) because lots of Mum's don't seem to reveal much do they? But I guess if everyone exposed the truth in mothers groups etc, we would know alot more about what was 'really' going on in their houses!!!!
thankgod I am not the only one, Fia is 2 and a half and still wakes overnight for a top up, occasionally self settles but rarely, the only difference now is she can tell me when i am empty.
