In Melbourne, my clients have all had very good experiences with Pinky McKay, Margaret Callaghan, Robyn Thompson and Barb Glare.
Here are some links to find Lactation Consultants, and a place to provide any feedback on Lactation Consultants you have used.
BellyBelly recommends you choose IBCLC's (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants).

In WA you can also try: Lactation West

I saw Margaret Callahan a few months ago and she was excellent![]()
I saw Pinky McKay and she was a life saver
All of the lactation consultants listed in the first link for WA are outside of Perth, they're all in country areas . . ?
If you are looking for a LC in Perth, try starting a new post and I am sure Barb will be able to help. She is often recommending local LCs to people, and I am sure they are the very best around.
Can anyone recommend a lactation consultant on the Central Coast or Sydney? I have only been able to locate one consultant on the Coast and when I rang I was told her books were closed.
I saw Pinky McKay too and she was fabulous. The hospital LCs I saw were good and helped a little but Pinky was the first person to stop putting more work on me (like expressing every 3 hours including overnight) and actually asked about my health! She gave the simpliest tips which were perfect in the state I was in... and they worked!
Can anyone recommend a lactation consultant in the Sydney inner west area (Ryde, Gladesville, Strathfield area), please? Really need to get someone to see my sister who is a new mum and struggling with breastfeeding. It's really mucking up her confidence.
summers mum, if Barb doesn't get on, a good idea is to phone the local ABA hotline & get a name of a local LC. I did that and it changed our lives, check Kelly's link above, because they are the best LC's.
In the link Australian Lactation Consultants Association Ltd - ALCA - Find a Lactation Consultant there is one in East Ryde

Hello!I'm a newbie here..
I'm also having problems with bf. My DD is 3 weeks old. I really want to see an LC who can guide me one-on-one. I'm from Melbourne (Pascoe Vale, to be exact). I've been taking Motilium for a week now. as well as fenugreek. They don't seem to work.. Please help me..![]()
Again, I would highly recommend Pinky McKay. She is brilliant
If you google her, it will bring up her website with all her contact details.
I can personally recommend the lactation day stay at Jessie Mac in Melbourne. It's an admission for a day for Mum, and runs as a small group (around 3 babies) with a lactation consultant. We were helped for at least two feeds, and also got lunch and snacks.
I would love to reccomend Karen Heyes ... she was so good to me the other day , she did my appt via house call !!
Can anyone recommend someone in the Keysborough/ Springvale south area? And what is the rough price for a visit and how long do they spend with you?
Cheers Melissa
