Yay Puppies - am so happy for you. I was glad I had a c/s too as my little boy entered the world without any distress. I was in a fair bit of pain the next day (like you mainly due to wind) but I didn't care cause my bubba boy was doing perfectly!!! As you say - it should be about the baby.

I agree butterfly kisses - c/s is all too often criticised and some things I have read almost make you feel like you're not a real person cause you has a c/s. Sorry not wanting to turn this thread into a debate but just finally glad to read something positive about c/s.

I agree my cs was wonderful (even tho it was after 16 hrs of labour and pain due to bub beingposterior and causing lots andf lots of pain for me!!) I was us the next day and did not look back! I really recoverd very fast and it really didnt hurt that much at all!
I got bub straight after the cs and then dh got her while I was stiched up - then I got hetr straight back and had her all day.

I will go back for a c/s with my second - but this will be a planned cs so maybe a little less stressfull!

And I agree - birth is about BABY! And if you keep a totally open mind mind then maybe avoid feeling so disapointed if you dont get the birth that you had planned on.

Thanks for your post puppies.....it has helped me feel a bit better. I had an elective c/s 4mths ago for my second baby and I had been very angry and dissapointed at myself ever since for not trying to deliver her vaginally. I have become depressed about it and feeling pretty useless....but your post as really lifted me today so thank you

So good to hear a positive c-section birth story!

I had a wonderfully calm and beautifully memorable c-section for the birth of our DD and I did not feel one ounce of guilt (despite everyone's best attempts at asking why I 'needed' to have surgery... weird how people (even strangers) do that...)

And I'm going back for another c-section this time around.

Sounds to me like your little boy is beautiful and you are a very happy, satisfied and proud Mum - congratulations!

oh puppies, thank you so much for posting this. im having an elective c section in 2 weeks, and i feel like im getting constantly criticised for it. im only very small, and bub is rather large, and having difficulty engaging into my pelvis. so i feel good about avoiding the distress of trying , and then having to have an emergency Caesar. id rather go in calmly and have the birth of my first baby to be a pleasant experience. thank you so much for helping me to feel more at peace with my decision, and for reassuring me that the recovery is not so bad!

I just want to ask you a question though, and you don't have to answer this at all, but a lot of your concern was that you were told that he was going to be a HUGE big baby (my definition of HUGE is a baby over 4.5kg) and he was far from that, in fact I would call him average sized (based on my own definition), so do you feel a bit ripped off that he wasn't anywhere near as big as they thought he would be? I ask this as a legitimate question, because so many women have a c/s for this reason and I always wonder if you do feel a bit cheated kwim?

I am so glad you are happy with your decision!! Definately not a big boy like they said! Pretty average sized. Mine were 8.4, 9.5 and 11 lol
