    Spare c/s tummy

I had my SIL's wedding this weekend and i noticed my tummy sticking out more then ever. My tummy now hangs uncontrollably over my c/s scar and im hoping that with a diet and some exercises that it might improve.

Does anyone know of any exercises that might help strengthen my tummy muscles again...i know that I dont have much help of healling them after all my ops (Ive had 4 c/s , one reversal and a lap) but anything is better then nothing.

Oh why oh why couldnt I have had a baby normally??? dame it!!!!

I have one word for ya: Pilates.

It focusses on core body strength i.e. tummy buttocks etc and uses the core body strength to balance the rest of the body. Pilates was orginaaly developed during World War 1 (I think it was this one) by a guy as a rehabilitation for soldiers who were otherwise incapacitated and had lost limbs etc. Great stuff is pilates.

Pilates is fantastic Maz! If you want to do it in the privacy of your own home, than grab a dvd. Water aerobics is also a good one.

Having had my babies 'normally' can I just say.. I have a very floppy belly! So not sure the birth has as much to do with it, but more the big belly & stretched skin!

I know this could be a bit different to what you're describing (having not had a c/s.. don't know much about scars & the tummy around them!) but all I know is no amount of pilates is gonna fix my belly LOL - unless pilates magically shrinks skin? Don't think mine has much to do with muscle at all

Wishing you a trim tummy soon!

Hey, I am wondering what I will do when I have finished having babies.
I had a C.sect with DS . My skin is good - didnt really get stretchmarks or saggy skin, but my tum sits funny where the scar is. Its sort of pouchy over top of the scar.
I had thought of Liposuction, since the skin is good, but I will see how subsequent pregnancies go.
I also now have a few scars and from a lap a few years ago and my belly button looks ugly, so perhaps a tummy tuck is whats needed?

Pilates is a really great idea, but I would recommend going for a few classes first if you can. Pilates is really effective IF done properly and it can be really helpful to have an instructor look at your technique. If you do it at home by yourself, be careful as you could hurt yourself

Also if you are going to do it at home make sure you get a beginners DVD which will explain everything for you and won't throw in any advanced exercises that you shouldn't be attempting yet.

    I hope I didn't sound discouraging - I don't mean to

Also combining the Pilates with some Cardio would be beneficial and good luck

Pilates DVD's are great, but if you have never done it before, Id recommend that you have at least one beginner session (class) or get a personal session, just to show you how exactly to do some of the core exercises. When I did pilates many moons ago, it was a great help having an instructor the first few times, after that the DVD's were much easier.

Or do what I do, wear really high tummy flattening underwear, these days my undies extend up to my bbs
