As a kid I can remember my mum always keeping a pair of scissors in the glove box - she used to say it was in case of emergencies or in the event of an accident and you couldn't undo the seatbelt. They were the nice big orange 1980's style

Whereas this scenario is one extreme of what can go wrong I think I will follow my mum's lead and start keeping a pair in the car too.
