    Child care fees issues

When do you get your statements - enforce or after the money comes out?
I've had constant problems with my account. It's either too much or too little and I get starts after the money has come out. It's doing my head in! Going to email her yet again now ive been charged a heaps of bank fees because she's taken more than she should have.

My statement is after (or about the same time) but we get them to debit the credit card (which we then pay straight off) so it doesn't really effect us - there's always space on the card!

We get a statement every Monday. Fees are DD every fortnight with the amount shown on the statement the previous week. The amount for us generally doesn't change maybe a cent here & there due to how the CCB is worked out.

    What do you mean enforce?

I usually do our statements early each week, either Monday or Tuesday - all parents have different payment dates so to do them after payments are taken would be a logistical nightmare. I know it really confuses some parents when they pick their statement up on a Thursday for example, (printed out on Monday) and they paid on say Tuesday afternoon and of course the amount they paid has not been credited to them because they paid after the statements were printed.

Is there a printed date on your statement?

Ou child care doesn't direct debit thank goodness! We get the statement at the start of the month and can pay it in the first week. I have been late though and it's never been a drama. Thank goodness they are flexible.
I'd definitely give her a call to discuss it.

It should be every fortnight and I claim ccr as reduced fees and no Ccb so the amount shouldn't change. I have been getting the statement usually 3 -4 days after money is dd. the girls have teen there since nov and I don't think there's been a payment yet that's been right, ok maybe one or 2) but its always me that is chasing it up. It frustrates me that I don't see a statement beforehand to know they are taking the correct amount. On Friday she's taken out more than should have come out for an amount that for the life of me doesn't add up so now I have overdrawn fees to pay. Ive just emailed her to find out whats happened. Just frustrating me. Maybe I'm over reacting but surely, there has to be a better way to do this.

Other than this side of things I'm really happy with the centre so don't really want to change things if I don't have to.

Do they attend the same amount of days each week?

Mine varied so much that I had my provider put a maximum amount on my account above which she could not direct debit me. It meant the amounts stabilised instead of fluctuating between $200 and $900 a fortnight.

They have been there the same amount of days for 3 wks now which remain the same. Fees did go up 1st of jan but web with the fee increase this amount she's charged doesn't add up.

I know we got charged 3 weeks at once due to staff going in holidays. Also, sometimes centerlink takes a while to apply benefit. I'm sure there is another option for payment other than direct debit.

Our fees are debited from the CC every Monday and I pick up the receipt each Thursday when DD2 attends, from our pigeon hole. Miss P only attends one day per week and the debit is always the same.

We got ours after the money had been taken out. It was the same each fortnight except one time they took out double to cover them not taking money out the fortnight before. Other times the money wasn't taken out, I assumed it had been and spent what was in our account, only to be charged insufficient funds because the direct debit attempted to come out another day. Then would get a phone call from the director, sometimes I was none the wiser until I got our statement with declined on it. I know I should have been more on the ball with checking our bank account, but this is the reason I use direct debit - so things are paid on time.

Just thought I'd mention that sometimes centerlink seems to pay my CCR late, meaning its not there when my fees for the week are taken out, meaning I pay the full amount that week. It always evens out though as the next week usually I've received two lots of CCR and don't pay at all. Is that what's happening?

That's what I was saying chody. Happens to me too but I don't use direct debit I do a bpay type thing. So my account might state more than I usually pay out of pocket but I just pay my usual until the CCB catches up.

Only once since CCR has been paid direct to the centre that my statement has not shown the CCR (well except for the week or so it was first implemented. The one time it did not, I just paid what I normally paid.
My centre tends to issue the projected statement fortnightly.

Bright Sparkles, do i understand correctly that you are paying by direct debit, where their bank helps itself to your money by prior agreement? If so, you should cancel that arrangement and instead pay by direct credit, which is where you set up the payment via Internet banking. It means you are in control of the date and amount of money that you are putting through.
