Oh, dear Meg i feel so darn disappointed for you !!
... i feel like i have to be a mind reader at my DD's Kinder as i rang the Kinder director (teacher too) thinking i got in nice & early to enrol DD again in for next year to be told ' they ' had made the enrolment date earlier this year (without letting me know) & if i didn't fill in the required forms asap she miss out on the * one * available spot left, clearly no one cares about informing parents even if their child already goes to the Kinder (there is no loyalty there like i though there would be) ... now i feel like i have to query way, way inadvance with everything, so ridiculous
I think your best option for now Meg is to get him into a ABC program for now then at least he is doing the socialising (as that's what 3year old Kinder is all about, so different to 4year old Kinder as you know) ... Good-Luck !!!
aww meg that sucks i know with S, to be in early we needed to apply by march 1st this year for next year, all applications up until march the 1st were classed as the same date, anything after that where placed in line accordingly, we did get in but we also had some priority as we do toddler group at the same centre.
have you found out how far down the line you are on the waiting list, what happens how for 4yr old kinder or are there more spots available due to it been compulsary?
I have rung and left a couple of meesages, and no one has bothered to return my calls! I want to find out when I can put the forms in for 4yo, and do them as soon as the list opens. FOr now I am thinking seriously about the local Child care centre, as well as Monessori (which is walking distance from my house) although I don't think we wil lbe able to afford Montessori.
id put his application in now for 4yr old!! have you thought about doing 1 day of 3yr old in another area? say near your mums, then you can just hang out with her for a few hours just a thought
Meg, I'm gonna put Ash into CC next year for a day as 3yr old kinder around here is only 2.5-5hrs week depending where you get in.
Find out about 4yr old kinder cause I already have had to apply for that. Here 3yr old worked by applying directly to the kinder and enrolementd opened start feb, enrolements went by applications so those who applied towards the end missed out.
Our 4yr old goes by applying thru the council, look up your council website and they should have all the info on when and how to apply and how they do preferences and list orders.
yeh, Meg my DD's kinder is only for 2.5hrs per week ... maybe CC (or ABC) would be more cost effective ... i have a friend who has her 3.5year old DD in a ABC 3year old kinder program and out of pocket it only costs her $29, she drops her off at 10am & picks he up at 3pm (although she could have her there 6am -6pm if she wanted to for the same amount of $29, although you have to have a concession card to get that amount$) !!
(I pay $110 per term at DD's Kinder, that's 4 x 2.5hrs per term, we don't have a Concession card ... BUT apparently at my DD's Kinder parents with a concession card can get 4year old Kinder for FREE)
What state are you in??
I was on a list for DS to get into 3 year old and just put my form in last week and got a email saying we got in.. I had 4 prefrences and got my 2nd.. He also needs interaction etc.
The waitlist does move.. FINGERS CROSSED!! and good luck
Maybe ring and see where you are on the list? Perhaps keep in touch to see if things change. We were in the same boat but DD got in recently on a 3rd round offer - clearly applications are serious stuff around here. It is only for 4 hours a week but I too didn't want her to miss out for a variety of reasons. Apparently they often have people drop out as the kids are not quite ready for it so hopefully there is a chance you get a spot down the track. x
