thought i'd update
Paed asked for the referral before she would book an appointment - read it, referred us straight to paed surgeon
X ray was fine - DD was fantastic and laid perfectly still. results tonight confirmed no obstructions and no obvious points of note
GP tonight was reluctant to write referral for surgeon. he was looking at DD saying "she looks like a normal, happy, healthy 2 year old" - i agree!! BUT, his suggestion to cancel the appt we have with paed surgeon (which isn't til march!) and see GP then if it's still a problem and book surgeon from there just didn't sit too well with me at all. if it stops being problematic, then great, we have an appointment, we can cancel it. but if it becomes more problematic, i don't want to start our three month wait all over again when it's already a problem!
hopefully DD will grow out of this - but if not, we have a plan of attack for it.
Does anyone know if this sort of hernia would impact appetite. We've barely seen this since my last posts. But the past few days dd has seemed generally swollen in the area and off her food. She had gastro last week so I thought nothing much if the appetite thing but today she has eaten next to nothing and earlier, after playing outside, the hernia was really prominent. She had no pain even when we asked but it was huge. And not eating...
finally got in to see the surgeon today. Thankfully i'd taken a photo the second time we seen it, cos we haven't seen in aaaaaaaaaaages! one look, he said yup, hernia. he poked her belly a little and it popped straight out. so she is off for surgery at some point in the next couple of months (initially he said a month, then six weeks) - i'm guessing timing will be dependent on the fact we have a bunch of public holidays coming up. hoping it's not til at least next month - i have used so much leave lately with being sick myself - i want to be able to be here for her post-op....
