My DS was done at 3 days by my obs at a private hospital in Sydney. He had the plastibel and seemed to suffer no ill affects at all. I know a friend's paed does it, he is northern sydney. Where are you?
I had Jesse circumcised by Dr Bell in Castle Hill. He does it up to 6 weeks old.. after that i think they have to wait until theyre 12 months +. He uses the plastibell. He was such a lovely doctor/OB. Would definately recommend him. It cost $250 and i think i got about $100 back from Medicare. Personally i think its best soonish after birth. That way at that age bubs isnt moving around much yet which id say would be better for healing (thats just my opinion). If you want his details send me a PM.

HI Parisa, we had our consultation with the GP this afternoon and are booked to have a plastibell procedure done on Thursday. I am in Brisbane, so can't help with anyone who does it in your area, but I can definately recommend the plastibell procedure to anyone interested. We had our first son done later - at about 16 weeks, due to health issues (he was born with heart issues which needed surgery at 12 weeks) but have decided to get our second son done earlier. He will be 2 1/2 weeks when the procedure is done and the Dr said that the younger they are the quicker they heal.
Wow kell, yours was dearer than mine, my obs charged $35!! and i only paid $7 of hat from memory! then again he did it when we were still in hospital.
Thank you all for your informative notes, I didn't expect such good commentsjust wanted to let you know that I live in Parramatta, so the one which is in Castle hill would be perfect regarding the distance.
Kell would u pls send me the contact number or address of your Dr?!
About the price.... how come your Dr charged u 250 $ and Mrs Mac's Dr charged her only 35$?I'm looking for a Dr who does his work well. I don't want my little baby suffer or get infection. Mrs Mac r u serious that your Dr charged u only 7$? was it plastiball? have u been happy of his work? thanx once more

I think mine was so cheap cause it was in hospital so it was only his time not any room fees or anything. It was really well done (as far as I know!) Yes it was the plastibell.
Parisa.. will pm you shortly. Oh dont worry about your DS suffering. Jesse cried for 20 seconds when they gave him the local needle (he cries with every needle but can you blame him) and the was fine during and after the proceedure. He didnt feel a thing and came out into the waiting room smiling and talking to me. Not sure.. i guess its up to the OB how much they charge and whether they claim from medicare on your behalf or not. Dr Bell doesnt claim for you from Medicare, you have to do that. But i know quite a few people who have had it done by him and all rave about him and how lovely he is. One of my current pregnancy Belly buddies actually sees him as an OB and loves him.
Dr Khan in Kingswood did Imran with the plastibell. He put it on medicare plus some cash on top. I can't remember how much but it was pretty cheap - definately not hundreds.
He was really nice and did a great job.
Yasin was done by Dr Selim in Punchbowl. He did a good job but his waiting room was really crowded and we had to wait for ages and he wasn't very friendly. I wouldn't reccomend him.
Hi Parisa- I had my son in a public hossy and got no help and nothing but horrible things said about me and about my decision... I had never heard of the plastibel option until after we had my son circumsized and think if we had another boy that would be our option then...
We took my son to a prediactirc surgeon at 3 months who would only do the surgury at 12 months as he said it was safer at that age to put him under... It was quite traumatic for me although the surgury went well... we did have a small issue after... My son after a bath grabbed down there and popped one stitch but they dont restich as it heals itself... Still traumatic for me to rush him to hossy with blood everywhere...
From what i have heard since then the plastibel option is much quicker, less traumatic for mums and amore efficient way of doing it... Think you have to get it done while there quite young though.... less painful i am told???
Good luck.
Oh i used Bruce Curry who operates in Livo ares but also has other surguries. not exactly sure where thou.
Hi laides, sorry if I seem to be coming from nowhere & trying to take over this post, I'm not trying to take over, but...
Just wondering if anyone can recomend a Dr who can circumcise on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. I looked in here as it was asking for Dr's in Sydney but they seem to be out West or in the city.
I just found out I'm having a boy & would like to be organised so when it comes time for his arrival I will know when & where for his circumcision.
Once again, sorry for this post being about "me".
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks ladies![]()
Danielle.. my girlfriend had her son done somewhere on the northern beaches.. will sms her and find out the doctors name and where. Otherwise Dr Peter Bell does it in Castle Hill. Will get back to you on the other one.
ETA.. ok my friend said she had her son done at the Sans Hospital in Turramurra. She will get back to me on the doctor's name but she said he was fantastic. Will get back to you with the name.
