NaNa and Suse - some mama pads are wider than others. Some come with a choice of two snaps, so you can alter the width of the mama pad. I'll check which ones of mine do that.
brands like NooneeWilga (on theclothpadshop site) do customs, so you can specify stuff like width and length to suit you.
Kitt3n - when bilby was as young as your bub, the only nappies that gave us Absolute Pootainment, were
- fitteds and covers
- prefolds and leg gusset covers
Our few exceptions were a few Malden Mills pockets with the rolled out fleece legs and once she got to 5kg, a Honeyboy AIO (also made of malden mills fleece with rolled out legs).
but all the PUL aio and pockets, i had to wait until she was about six months old, before we got Absolute Pootainment with those. i was not best pleased, but at the time, wotevah gave the Pootainment, got my vote! e.g got used.

whoever mentioned the rose hip oil idea - i WILL try that thank you! the skin on that finger is all dry and stretched, the finger sort of curls up, doens't lie flat like all my other fingers, so every day, i've been wondering, "what should i put on it", haven't been sure, so up to now - nothing. Thank you so much for the rosehipoil idea!
For those of you considering different pocket brands e.g the Kanga - babysoftlandings has a pocket package, to enable you to try out differnent OSFA pocket brands, you get to pick which ones you want to try.
Nana, i've read, to clean out the aplix if it's gone all fluffy, another way to do this, is to use a SNAPPI.

about babies just in nappies - i have noticed pale PUL outers get grubby and pill a bit, but the strong coloured minky outers seem to be very hardy to me, i've noticed they do well in the sandpit. bilby is not outdoors alot so i can't say how well they do on concrete paths.
re: the pooing in the night nappy early in the night
my take on this is to lay in a separate microfleece liner (even if night nappy is already lined in staydry fabric).
then if bilby poops early on (e.g teething), then i have a certain chance (not guarantee, but a good chance) that i can LIFT OUT the liner and the poop, and the nappy underneath is still dry and clean.
Or i can take out the trifold (if it's wet) and put in another trifold. So i "rescue" the night nappy and we still get to continue to use it over that night (in most cases). this will obv not work with a child who still has the watery poops.
i've put this down, JIC it helps one of you, esp when you're starting out and have a small Night nappy stash.
) You will know because they come out in a horrible rash which clears as soon as you put something else on. Ashton can wear 1 nappy unlined and gets what looks like lots of red dots, if I leave more on him he even bleeds. But when I put on a natural nappy like his BBB/BBH it clears up straight away.
just didn't like the fit, the velcro... anything but the booster haha but I got it given to me 2nd hand so wasn't out of pocket with it 
I recognised the bottom of the street on the news! Those photos are scary indeed!
