well i for one am sick of either using a bucket of water or the basin in the bathroom... so i can't wait for the poo to go where it belongs down the dunny....
I have a LS that has never been used ;) I just throw the nappies in poop and all lol I imagine when they aren't so runny that I will need to use it but at the moment there is no need.
I just got an email from Lesley, my nappy and tshirt are on the way YAY! I Am so excited!
WOHB - Cloth'd up with shorties
Kat - that is terrible hun Im glad it wasn't your GD too.
Mel and teruteru - Fanks lovelies, I think I will use the GK tonight and see how we go, I've had the ac blasting all day so it's not too bad in here. I don't have a bamboo booster for my BG, just the microfibe one it came with.
I don't have a LS but James still has runny breastfed poo - if it's a bit thick I wipe it off with a wipe and put it in the bin. Terrible I know but most of Izzy's poo goes in there too - the child never has firm poop you can pop in the loo.
I have a cold - boohoo , off to find a wet bag. I finally decided on one and they were out of stock - typical, then I found another one on the NN site- gorgeous and they are out too. Ugh.
WOJB: Blue IB
OK, so it's doing weird things for me now...
Quick question. I've finally got BBB but I don't have a wool cover. Would a Maz Cover work overnight?
Im not keen to spend that much money on a LS should I go to bunnings and try to make one?? Sounds easier to me.
WOHB: Snoozywuns
yep maz covers work beautifully over night :D
Do the BBB always end up so crunchy after a wash? I haven't used them yet because they seem like they are so scratchy compared to my other ones?
tan- dont think BG makes bamboo boosters, i used the one that came with my magicall. i usu use the magicall for nights but when its not dry i'll just put the booster into my BG as one option :P
Great thanks. We'll be in cloth tonight! :D
Tyler is now officially walking today too. He's been taking steps since Christmas morning and last week (12/1) he walked from one room to another, but as of today he's walking absolutely everywhere! WTG Tyler!!!
Now it's playing up on all most posts. Grrrr!
No dryer here ( I know - Melbourne! who'd have thunk it) so hands it is!
i let the boys play with them to soften them up hehe
:o I havent been in here all day!! what is wrong with me!!!
BG - oh honey thank you so much for getting me the large cover....I wuv you to the moon and back honey
Crunchy nappies...I just sit on them for a while on the couch and they soften up (must be my farts that do it;) )
Oh Oh got my Auriel from CK today! WOW!!! thats all I gotta say..no its not its friggen boombastic fantastic..makes me wanna go... boom...... boom sorry but it looks so much nicer IRL then on the pics. I love her snapping method to :) had to email her and thank her..couldnt help myself.
Im still awaiting mail...8 lots of it....hmmm noice stuff..gotta make a pot of gold cover for mateauz soon....he's got his pead's appointment next week and Ireally want him to wear it there so must pull fingy out of rectum
WOMB - WC and Maz-a-licious Cheetah cover
WOVB - white BB with hippos
maz, seriously, would you make me "pot of gold" undies in size 10-12??
And to everyone who asked, YES the LS is FANTASTIC, especially once bubs gets past that runny NB poo stage. I dunno about making your own from bits from Bunnings (who has the time??) but I guess it could be done...
WOHB: wild child and pot of gold cover! It's my fave :)
I just bought a Leslie whatchamahoozie wet bag in zesty zinnia! Lovely! :leap: Off to bed to rest my sore nose and head!
Booh Hoo. My gorgeous man is no longer a newborn, he is now officially a baby.:crying: I don't want him to grow so fast, I want him to stay little for a long time. Not that he's so little now, he weighs almost 6.5kg already.
On a good note, got fluffy mail today! (Bad girl, not supposed to be spending money :shhh:) Berry Plush off B4B.
Now waiting on fluffy mail for me, I'm slowly beginning my walk down the cloth mama path with some liners.
WOSB WC with EWS
WONB BBB with PP soaker
TAN - we had the Little Squirt installed b4 bilby even made her entrance, so all her nb runny poo got little squirted down the loo.
the more poo you put down the sewage system the better.
in the old days when sewage systems didn't exist, the infant mortality rates were horrific. the Public Sanitation technology kicked in around the early 1900's i think, and that's when more babies started surviving.
so it's not just a convenience, putting poo down the loo, is a public health issue.
There are many pathogens in faeces, i dread to think of how much of it is at the local dumps, coming into contact with scavenger animals e.g rats, and then being passed on. eww.
on a purely selfish note, i don't think my nose could handle the stink of poo in the nursery, or in the wheelie bin. i know people who store full used nappies in their bub's nursery (until bag is full enough to warrant trip to the bin) and it's not for me.
i prefer our nappy bucket to be full of sopping wet mcn, not poopy ones. i've spent too much time in hospital in my life, to take risks with poo. I own this, as My Thing.
last year, on another parenting forum, a mum (who is also a hairdresser) gave step by step instructions on how she created her own defacto little squirt - no doubt inspired by the thingies hairdressers use to squirt you after they're washed your hair. SHe reckoned as she was not a plumber, and she could do it, that any average person could. and no, i was stoopid, and did not bookmark the thread!!
Teru - no hon, in no way did i interprete you as being a biatch! silly internet, if we were face to face, you would have known, i was just explaining myself, not being offended. If i listed all the brands, i would be here for a very long time. google natures cradle, that will start you off.
Brigsy - wot went missing for you?
now whose postie chucked the parcel over the back fence? how irresponsible!!! i assume they would hear dogs barking ie KNOW you ahve dogs, dogs who are curious and have TEETH!
bilby wore knickers at childcare today, for a few hours, refused to use their potty, just held on. Her monkey trainers arrived and now she REFUSES to even try them on!!! argh!!! I am so thick, finally worked out that Dora the Explorer (who i have never seen the tv show or anything) has a little monkey, so THAT is why bilby screams "door door" when she sees a pic of Dora - cos of the monkey!
MAZ - does the arrival of the Auriel mean you do like side snappers on M now? which one did you get? i know you had your heart set on the holden one.
wotbb: kester kovers aio night nappy
I don't find the LS easier with newborn/before solids poo. Maybe my boobs make super sticky milk or something but I find it rinses off easier with a bit of hot water in the laundry trough. I think the cold water from the LS makes the fat in the poo go a bit on the solid side and cling to the nappy more.
Lately I have been chucking them in the wash unrinsed (they go straight into the bucket) and do a prerinse in the washing machine and they come out fabulous. But I do a load every day having 2 in cloth so I'm not sure how that would go if you're washing 2-3 days.
Have to add that it's only Ruby's nappies that go in unrinsed. Calebs need a nuclear strength hose down. The LS is a godsend for cleaning off his nappies. He's teethng ATM...hooley dooley!
Speaking of LS's I managed to hose down the toilet wall today putting it back in it's holder. I forgot to turn the lock thingy around LOL.
Tan they can feel a bit stiff when they dry so fast in the hot sun. If you have the time scrunch them a bit while they are on the line. It doesn't take long and it's just like you're doing it to see how dry they are. If you don't have time for that then give them a flick and a scrunch while you fold them. They won't be as soft as brand new unless you use a dryer but then that will prematurely age your elastic if you do it too often.
woo hoo silly questions are gone!
persnaly i wouldnt put poo down the laundry tub or into the machine - i wouldnt do MCN if I didnt have a little squirt.
kat - i think you were after daycare nappies? they have baby kangas on sale at ozbaby trends for $22 (no inser though)... I ordered myself one of the lovely bums pull up woll covers - any opinions? and a jam tots hemp nappy to try (hey why not at that price)...aso ordered one of the new "drop in" nappies, they look interesting.
I have decided to keep all of my bum g's - i think i didnt ike them cos i was putting both boosters in and they were just so huge, but one booster is thirsty enough and they dont look too big/uncomfy on her now.
i would like to ask you guys to please review my stash - i think i have enough! Basically I need 4 days worth of nappies (2 days to dry, 2 days use at the same time) over winter, so here it is....

My postie leaves parcels (that i dont have to sign for ) on the top of the stairs .. then locks the gate on the way out ! he is lovey and now knows which mail is for my business or which mail is for me !!
i think it helps when you get regular mail and build a good rapport (sp?)
anyway .. i got MAZ mail yesterday !! thanks Maz .. they are great ... little critters for my little critter !!
Gigi - i ordered some IB boosters when they had their sale on - they left them out - i emailed them and got a reply within 12 hours - can't complain at that!
Gigi - Thanks hun, I am definitely getting a LS when DH gets back..... will get him to read your post to convince him!
Eugenia - I just realised that out little ones are one day apart!! :)
Kitten - That is some stash! I love my BG and I use the extra booster for nights but just the one is fine during the day for us.
Raven - I know what you mean about nb poo - James is doing these thick poos right now - tricky to get off! I use a stack of loo paper and flush usually and a quick hot rinse in the sink. Obviously do need a LS though!
My little mate is having an odd morning - crying like he wants a feed and won't attach - very strange I hope he doesn't have my sore throat :(
WOJB: Blue Cushie basix
hey, sorry to crash the thread guys!! just wanted to ask more about the LS - I didnt realise u could use it with newborn poop, so would u definitely recommend getting it from day one? DH is all for getting it, thinks he likes the idea of getting rid of the poop ASAP lol! but I'd thought it was only useful once got onto solids which contradicts what some of you seem to be saying :)
I really need to get my butt into gear and start making the nappies lol! am making prefolds and just some PUL covers to start with, then planning to move onto fitteds and pockets prob around 6 months or something!
me me me...i have the DUMBEST delivery driver from AP...am awaiting feedback from the inquisition....SOMETHING best happen...
Kitt3n...i am after nanny friendly nappies...am thinking i will just get afew more Baby beehinds magicalls..(old style)
OMG i have just folded and stacked a MOUNTAIN of covers & nappies...it is like Mt Vesuvius....LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!!!
WOJB ~ Blue Minky Magicall
MrsC_aussie.. a litttle squirt is soo worth it .. (plug alert) you can order them through me and you also get a free bee ! please check out my MPM thread titled January Specials ..
Not sure about the cheaper models .. the way i see it is cheaper models = cheaper parts :dunno:
Gigi - what are monkey trainers ??
kat - they also have thirsties pockets for $22
Lea - I can't find your thread babe - can you link me please?!
OMG!!!! I just received my BBH pack I ordered thru Lea. I've never held a BBB before. They are soooooo soft! They're just divine! Thanks so much Lea!
I'm gonna wash them all so I can put Ty in new soft BBB, not the harder, 2nd hand BBB which he was in last night - which btw worked brilliantly with a Maz cover. Go Maz! I think I need more Maz covers in a large. :)
I'm off to meet Janie from The Wee Wuns this morning. I first contacted her when I started shopping but for various reasons we've had to delay the visit until today. I'm going to have to buy something from her - even though I've probably got enough nappies to last me. Oh well, I'm happy to go and see what she's got!
WOHB: Blue minky IB
wardy - get some of the swaddlebees wipes, they are awesome!!!!
okies - speaking of wipes, how many do you think i'll need? ball park figure? and what materials are best for bub (esp one with sensitive skin - if she is anything like mummy, it will be bad!)? also, does anyone use those soapy things to add to wipes, or just plain old water? and how do you cart them for days out? was thinking of maybe getting a tupperware container or something, and keeping them in that - if they DO dry out a bit, it takes nothing to add a bit more water... or is a wetbag type thing a better idea?
i'm full of questions at the moment! sorry ladies...
bg - i use one wipe per bum change. i wet half of it under the tap - use that half to clean, then pat her dry with the dry part.
i dont use any solutions - just plain water.
i would say 1 - 2 dozen? i rate the swaddlebees velour cloth wipes highly (heaps in stock at the weewuns)... i have 15 of those
for going out i use seventh generation wipes......
I have wipes from FJ..lovely sherpa ones.....my older 2 will often grab them for face washers in the bath aswell....
as for parts being cheaper on the rip off LS....i assume it wasn't just thrown together and has been tested...wach to their own anywhoo....the way i see it.. if it does the job...no need to pay BIG $$$ which i can then spend on nappies...hehehehe
WOJB~Blue Minky Magicall
On the subject of LS, I've just had to change the worst poo ever, so no more putting it off I'm getting one NOW. I've been trying to get DH to Bunnings (who would've thought it's so hard, it's his favourite store) to get the parts to build one as he's quite handy and likes doing that sort of thing, but he's been ignoring me as he's been busy doing other stuff and I can't wait any longer. So Lea, you got yourself one more customer.
As for wipes I have to admit I'm a bit of a cheapskate. I have some nice bought ones that I use for going out, and at home too, but I've also cut up some old terry flats and use them first to get the worst of the poo off, then I use the nice, soft bought ones for the detail clean. In my defence I always dry the wipes in the dryer so they're all nice and soft and not scratchy on my babies' bottoms.
i think i'm a bit of a weird one - i want everything to be "just right" for this bubba because we've been through so much to get her. i'm not stressing on the money aspect of it kwim? i'm still looking for bargains, but i don't want to be running short of stuff that i need. i will be doing the single mummy thing most of the time, so am looking at convenience for me - dont' want to run out of something essential... i also live 40k round trip from the nearest shops, so i can't afford to run out of nappies! i'll always have face washers for at home - but if i'm gonna do the mcn thing, i'm gonna do it right! lol
BG Im getting mum to make me some wipes with flannel on one side and terry on the other. IN the meantime I've been using terry cloths that I have and also some Maz wipes. I use Bubblebubs foamy wash which is all natural and smells delish one pump of that on his bot and I keep a pump water bottle on the change table as well. I'm not that organised for going out yet so Im still using disposable wipes. I know some girls keep wet wipes in a little zip lock bag or you can take them dry and use a water bottle ( I have a pump water bottle everywhere around my house, car and nappy bag!) Google seventh generation babe but they are biodegradable wipes that you can get.
BG...i am the same...IVF bubba here :D and we lost his twin brother at 5 and abit weeks :( so yeah i know how you feel about having everything just right for bubba...
it's funny how much the ivf game messes with your perception of things isn't it Katones? i have had many "heated discussions" with my brother - he has three kids and thinks he knows it all - he just doesn't understand how different your headspace is after going through so much trauma (though he's learning very quickly!)
