Katones my mum is very supportive of the cloth thing too. His other grandparents seem to like them too but I don't know really. He has only seen them 3 times unfortunately even though they live 45 minutes away

my mum was sooooo like this - "if i have the baby for a day, it will be in sposies" - ummm, looks like you won't be looking after the baby then mum! should have seen her face!! i just told her she wasn't expected to wash the nappies (but knowing her, she will!), all she was expected to do was ONLY use the creams i provide, and to change the baby's bum. now i've been told when i go back to work there is NO WAY IN HELL her grandaughter is going into DayCare - between Granma days, Daddy days and my SIL, there will be no need for her to use Day Care - and the reason?? Cos Day Care make it harder to use MCN's! I've even converted my dad - picked up fluffy mail on the way to their house one day (Iish fly's) and showed dad the nappies - he realised they were really just "reusable sposies - but cute!" so he's all for it - i think when i converted him, mum realised that they weren't as evil as she'd first thought
having said that - i WILL have flats in my stash to use at home, and will possibly have half a dozen stashed at mum's house just in case. i have no issue using flats with snappis at home for convenience (mum used to do FDC back when it was really about incorporating kids into the family, so i've been changing nappies since i was 8, and looking after kidlets when mum couldn't - at their houses, not ours! - since i was 12) - flats aren't that scary. i also figure they'll be nice and quick to wash and dry at home if we have a run of icky weather. the purddy mcn's will be used when we go out (don't have a lot of little little ones) and flats at home for a while... mum and dad live half way between home and the shops, so having a small stash there will mean, if we have a bad day, i'll have a stash to use when i need them in an emergency!

i think a stash of flats are essential whether you use cloth or not anyway - spew blankies, nappy free time, under bum when changing in case of extra bits flying out......
I have a dozen terry flats and a half dozen booroi prefolds (luuurrrvvveee the booroi prefolds)

yep i did intend on using them...think i used them twice??? we have oh...about 30 something flanny flats
i have afew prefolds aswell...but barge bum grew too fast..soo they didn't get used for long... now are just sitting there...
i much prefer my IB and BBH fitteds/cover combo

i have an aunt with an intellectual disability - she found out i was pregnant and wanted to get me something special but practical to help with the baby - she knew my SIL used flats for spew rags, so asked if i wanted some for that. i said sure - so she said she was getting me the bright colored flats cos then no one will mix up bum nappies and spew nappies! i thought it cute, so i'm getting 16 bright bots nappies to use as spew rags! as i said to DH, it will work out ok cos i can send bro's kids to the nursery and KNOW they'll bring the right nappies out if i need a spew rag or something - and if i'm out, it will be easy to grab the right thing from the nappy bag!

i used the BRIGHT BOTS terry flats (coloured ones) for my eldest (nearly 10 years ago!!!!) except she was always getting NR!! and she was changed every 1-1.5hrs..BUT still got NR

My mum and MIL are both rapt that we're giving clotha good go this time, mum in particular has horrified we used disposables last time!

I have so many terry flats so far... I haven't counted but I think around 30 odd - now just have to boost my covers collection! So I suppose in some ways I am using "old style cloth" but no pins... I would do more injuries to myself and bubs that I can care to think about. My youngest sister is 6 years younger than I and mum used cloth on her for a while and I remember I was so happy when she went to sposies cause my fingers were safe again - bring on the snappies!
I have less actual MCNs but am sure that will change over the next few months... I don't want to buy things now that won't work for bubs... lol and terry flats are almost a guarantee to work no matter what size/shape bubs is... well at least that is what I hope!
Katones, yes I love the maz covers... the recently arrived order is my first of covers... and I bought about 7 (I think... ) in different sizes NB, S, M and L... so some I won't get to use for a while but oh well money spent on covers now is money able to be spent on other things later!
BG, I am glad that your family have come around to MCN/cloth friendly... I am happy that DP's mum has come around as my plans are for DP's mum to provide care (at their request) rather than day care so I am glad we are on the same page re what's going to be on bub's bum

Mandy Macs are big then Kitten? Did it stand up well over the night? should have by the sound of it.
DH was the one who encouraged me to go cloth, I didn;t want to until I saw how much cloth had changed I had the old school attitude towards it. So glad I did I don't have any of the nappy rash, skin irritation issues with elise like I did with abby.
Mind you he still hasn't changed a nappy and I don't think he will, I don;t mind though cause means I can buy what I want and he has no idea whats new and whats not

lol ll...my hubby doesn't change nappies too often..so he has no idea what are new nappies and what aren't...he does say to me though...ohhhh which ones are new?? or when did you buy this one?? and i can't help but tell him...i just can't NOT tell him...i get soo excited about NEW nappies

laura, when i put it on her I said to DH "might put thsi one away for a little while actually, it just looks too big for now" and my usually quiet, non swearing husband says "no s***, that thing woudl f***** fit ME!!!". So yeah its huge on her, NOW! BUt i think it will be great further down the track.

hehe that's my downfall too, I get so excited about it and have to share with someone. He usually just goes "oh yeah it's a bit girly. What if the next one is a boy?" I say "I'll just have to buy more" lol

well i rang DH yesturday whilst he was at work..and blurted out about the custom nappy i'm getting with "go waratahs" on the bum...DH says "yeah get it done...when will we have it?? will we have in time for the next Tahs game??" so was NOT worried at all about that nappy...and there is no need to hide that one

laura!!! OMG Michelle at WC was going to do a linux penguin custom for me, so was going to see how the penguin digitalised, but I ended up cancelling the order!!!!!!!!!!

we are back from our holiday.. there has been too many posts in here for me to catch up on!
Just wondering, DD is about to start child care... can any recommend some CC friendly nappies? are IB's too hard for CC? I'm sure this has already been asked, but its too hard to find!!!!!!!1

Kellie - we used our ordinary nappies at Daycare, and they were fine, there was one time when they put one on inside out somehow but it was a new carer :-) I sent pockets pre stuffed and AIO so both the same concept. They sed to love seeing her different ones and converted many of her carers over to cloth.
