Dunno bout the Iish-fly's - haven't been on ebay lately, but all the nappies I got off there when I was first starting (CT's, BBH's etc) have all been the real deal if that helps.
Just in case anyone hasn't seen it yet:- Here we go!!
those iishfly's have the same embroidery that she has on her site, so i'd say they're genuine seconds.
i have probably 10 iish fly's and they work really well for DD. love them, will probably need to work out additional boosting as she gets older, but we'll get there when the time comes
rhyb - yep. I'm back in Qld. I'd forgotten how messy it is, with mulberry trees, bats, gecko poop... and it's a new experience for me having a toddler who's just really discovered dirt, and in the chaos of moving he has forgotten how to tell me he needs to go potty. No fun with a non-functioning little squirt!
I definitely second what Gigi says about using MCN without a LS. It's just horrible! I am waiting on a replacement hose for mine, since the old one started bulging like a sausage, but it still worked. Only reason I haven't re-installed it anyway is that it's too short for our new place! And I have also considered hosing dirty nappies off in the garden, but our hose connector got left behind! Argh!!
NaNa, I didnt know you were moving, was the fire the clincher? or were you going to move anyway?
Brrrr, Mel, 10 deg- sounds cosy How are you finding it hon? Do you like it? or is the jury still out. Does DH like his new job?
Ok, enough nosiness, still waiting on my babylegs and babyhosen, but finally, finally my 2nd hand nappy that has taken 6 wks to get to me arrived today. Why are some people so disorganised - they dont miss a trick when they are waiting for your money, but once they get it, they could care less about gettin off their assses and getting to the PO.
WOLB, sposie, is bathed and ready for bed.
Happy 6 months old today my darling baby boy, the best thing I ever did......
shelley- yay! Happy six months to your Lil Man!!!
And yeah the fire was pretty much what clinched it. That and DP's job was getting bad, and Melbourne weather pretty much sucks (although I love the place). So it was either move to Africa, France or Brisbane... and since I didn't like my chances of ever getting fluffy mail in Africa, France was a bit too expensive, and DP got a great job in Brisbane just at the right moment, here we are! Not nearly as exotic as it could be, but I would HATE to move overseas with DS right now. Interstate has been challenging enough. At least now I'm close to family, and I can visit my NB niece and assist in her having the cutest cloth tush possible!
Hey Mel, how's it going in Tas? We swapped places almost! Remember not to hang the MCN too close to the fire to dry... I accidentally singed a brand new Blueberry like that.
ladies
Sorry Ive been awol....but if you follow my facebook page you'll know why
I have such a bad pain in my left boob atm , doesnt help that my little man keep's head butting me in it...grr
Nana- you moved away from me NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Anyone seen the cherubs kiss blog???? nice blue eye and cars auriel up that is coming this way VERY soon
TK hon... do what works for you. I used nothing but cloth on Mateauz when he was nb....but that was me...its about confidence in your nappies and yourself. You'll be fine babe...just dont stress
BG - Miss E is growing up way to fast and so to is MIss Ruby who I was informed today is now in a large cover not a medium so looks like her aunty maz will hav eto make her another one now.
Have cut out 3 outter for some night nappies for my little guy...yes maz is going to finally pull finger out and make him some...soon.
OH MEL (arimeh) email me hon......with that finger I Need numbers
I have no idea what I was going to say...must have snorted to much minkee fluff again
WOMB - WC NN and cheetah mal cover
WOVB - GF night knickers
how do i do that thing where you put a link and write something instead of having the url ... im so dumb at this stuff , like you did mel .... howd you do that ??
Lea, type the word you want to have as your hyperlink, highlight it, then click on the little icon that looks like a world with a bit of chain/infinity/sidewards 8 in front of it. paste the link you want in there, click ok - all should work
the other option is to type it out, but i can't remember exactly how to do it - i take the cheats way
WOEB - a spunky butts fitted and MAL jaffa cover while she sleeps in. i shoulda stayed in bed with her...
Lea - yeah what BG said. Then after you press ok, it will come up with some of the writing as highlighted, so you just write in there what you want it to be called and should work ok.
Maz - I feel bad now for emailing you cos I know how busy you are.
NaNa - you just run away from me - I know it. No fires here so we shouldn't have any burning problems
MLM - yup DH likes his job, says the people are friendly and nice and stuff, so he's happy working there. Still getting used to different software though, but he'll be fine. Its 9 degrees now and the wind is a bit icy - but its still good!!
WOAB: a HUGE blow out with a BoB - this kid pees through everything. Think I'll start toilet training cos I'm sick of changing his pants every bloody hour.
WOMB: ummm Twinklelily I think.
Gigi - yep we have an LS. It was one of the first things I bought when I decided to go cloth... there is no way I could even contemplate cloth without one! Am still yet to install it but DP said he would do it this afternoon. So any nappies she dirties today will be rinsed under the tap (with me wearing gloves)
Thank you again for the kicks up the bum ladies.
Maz, I think I will be more confident as time goes on. I haven't stressed and will continue to try not to!
Well Miss C did a huge poo in her sposie this morning so I took the opportunity to put cloth on. Our first cloth on bot was a prefold with a Maz fleece rainbow cover as soon as I did up the snappy I thought she had done another poo but when I checked it must of just been a fart but then she wee'd while the nappy was undone so I changed the prefold cause the cover wasn't wet is that ok?
I tok piccies and will post them throughout the day!
Personally I air the cover even if not wet and put back on next nappy change, but that's just me, not sure what DH does, but he avoids using the ones he needs covers on
i tend to have two on the go at once as well - just to give them a bit of an airing between being used - having said that though, if it's the middle of the night and there isn't a spare cover around, the same one goes back on! we have always let DD have at least five or 10 minutes of nappy free play time every nappy change unless we're out and about though, so the covers always get aired anyway...
i'm so impressed with using cloth - DD has only ever had two small spots of nappy rash (i'm talking smaller than a five cent piece) and she's never had a sposie on her butt! DH is getting really good at assembling nappies - he just needs a nudge as to what bits go where lol much easier than some of the nay sayers make it seem!
have a load of nappies on washing, and all the new fluff ready to go in. headache mostly gone so i'm making the most of it
with a strip wash, i know you start with clean nappies - do you make sure your nappies are dry before strip washing as well?

well done TK!
little squirt is one of those rare items, for which reading the instructions is actually a damm fine idea. it's easy to squirt yourself, the floor, the walls, everything you don't mean to, if you don't know how to use it.
if your LS doesn't have instructions (mine didn't, i got it 2nd hand), it's easy to download instructions online for it.
in essence, only HALF depress the trigger
hold ONE item at a time, in the lower part of the toilet bowl and aim the LS at the bottom of the bowl
direction is key
pressure is key
LS the liner
LS the prefold
LS the cover
do them separately and you won't be left feeling like you need to be an octopus to be able to do it all!
i would go into the loo with the used mcn
upend the nappy bucket lid (to act as a little table to put stuff on)
and then LS each item separately
i'm sure there are many other ways of doing it, but i worked this way out for myself, to make it idiot proof for me - i need things simple.
anyone after trainers or swim nappies, i just saw a good sale on Imse Vimse ones at New Age Nappies.
and the wee wuns have a blueberry trainers special on right now. and Daddledoo trainers are on sale all month too.
Brigsy, you asked in a previous post, what to do when nappies stop being AS absorbent as they usually are - unless you KNOW you need a strip wash (you know someone has washed them with fabric conditioner, with too much wash powder, you know a barrier cream has been put on her, not using a liner) - then it just occurred to me - babies DO increase their output - maybe it might be something as simple as ADDING a booster to that nappy? Maybe the AMOUNT of absorbency in the nappy, is no longer enough for E? Just a thought.
it's useful to have a collection of trifolds, bifolds, boosters to add to nappies, to customise them, to add them to the bit where YOUR bub wets the most. small thin boosters can be good, in a situation, when if you added a THICK booster, you'd get leg gape, but add a small one, and it fits, meaning no leg gape. DIfferent boosters for different situations.
WOTBB: she's well enough to be back at childcare today, in boring knickers, i miss seeing her fluffy butt! well we only ever sent PUL pockets (workhorses) to childcare, but you all know wot i mean!
Maz: good on you for doing the fundraising for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. (i'm assuming that is what is keeping you super busy or is there something else as well? ha ha, as if having four kids isn't busy enough.
Air the covers... makes sense! Thanks for the tip Heather & BG! Will do that from now on.
BG - I also try to give her a few minutes of nappy free time when we are home. DD has a bit of NR at the moment. I put it down to the wipes we were using (got given some packets of wipes... think it is the solution in them) so we have gone back to warm water and cloth wipes.
At the moment I am treating the NR with bepathen and a liner. I am using my second hand prefolds at the moment so I am not too fussed if the cream gets on them
