aww BG hope your heg-ache (ds's word for headache) goes away soon
TK and lolly - dive in feet first! you may have to try a few nappies before you find the one that fits properly, but when you think of how good they look, it's worth it! if you try dress up's at home to see how they look, and make it a photo op (TK - i need to see nb sized bubba in fluff - i forget what it was like!) - once you've used one, as Sam said, you gotta do a days worth otherwise it's a waste to run the machine to wash them!
if you have any, widdlewuns are great on a tiny bottom. NB monkey doodlez. small itti's may still seem a little gapey around the legs if you have the snap-ins rather than the true AIO's. give it a try. set yourself a challenge to not use sposies unless you're going out tomorrow. when that works (which it will lol), you can build up to full time cloth
as to pre washing - just chuck them in the washer when you are going to bed tonight - once they're washed, you have to hang them out before they get stinky lol. once they're dry, it's not much time to put the together and use them. with one prewash, they won't be at maximum absorbancy, so you'll need to change more often - but with a nb, you're probably doing that a lot anyway
WOEB - nothin! she's kicking around on the floor with a nudie butt. mummy has a headache (baaad) so have given daddy nappy and baby duty for the night.
aww BG hope your heg-ache (ds's word for headache) goes away soon
awwww cute!
panadol seems to be kicking in
having DH look after DD is definitely kicking in!
had to take her to bed before - i just couldn't take any more sitting up - was feeling seriously ill - need to see chiro i think
fluff wise - doing a swap with rhyb so have packed up some stuff to send. fluffy mail on it's way for me too.
if a nappy isn't as absorbant as it previously was, will a strip wash help?
WOEB - yellow itti
righto - step one, lose the headache
step two, strip wash nappies
step three, drag out the bigger sized widdlewuns - i don't want to admit she needs them though!
Thanks Mel... I needed that kick - and you are right - I need to get used to doing cloth with one if I ever hope to do cloth for two
That is a good idea - dress ups! I haven't tried the nappies on. I have prefolds and covers (no gusset ones as I haven't finished my layby yet) but I have maz covers, terry flats and some MCN newborn size, itti's small size um not sure what else
You are right - I have typed up the reasons and posted them in the laundry for motivation and in DDs room near her change area.
I think I have a few AIOs... really should delve deeper into the stash so I can refresh on what I have
I think you were onto something with the progressional start... I think that will be my plan of conversion as well!
I guess we should jump in together!
Yeah I forgot about that
I know I don't have widdlewuns or monkey doodlez - I do have small ittis (both AIO and SIO) not sure what else I have (as in can't remember the brand names LOL)
Ok so I have some that are prewashed - did them after my post today - they should be dry by tomorrow (I put them in the drier to finish them off) so I am going to do a cloth day tomorrow - prefolds and covers! This will work well because DP will be at work during the day and can't laugh and say I told you so if it is hard and if I stick to cloth until the weekend I will hopefully have enough confidence before he is around more on the weekend
Thank you ladies - your encouragement is just what i needed
BG - hope you headache gets better & good luck with the strip wash. Its hard to admit our little ones are growing so quickly. Fred has just grown out of her first nappies and I am sad to see the ittis go
now when I sell nappies, should I strip wash them first?
Anyone know any websites or good places to get preloved mcns? I want more but have to be a little price savvy. Thanks![]()
nappychic - mostly bb members so you know the nappies have been loved
Hey everyone! Long time, no see!!
Have moved to sunnier climes and DS is back in cloth after a week in icky sposies and equally icky hotel rooms... MCNs were the first thing to be unpacked BUT I'm still waiting on a new hose for the LS, and I am NOT loving life without it!
What have I missed in the last month or so? Can't possibly go back and read the whole thread.
WOAB: Sandman & MAL custom
Welcome back NaNa and nice to meet you.
Errrrrr, thinking it's the standard chit chat you missed.
Ooohh NaNa are you in Qld? Sorry banana trees best I could come up with lol
Not much just the usual enabling and commiserating TT![]()
welcome back Nana!
TK - do you have a little squirt yet?
if you don't, i would wait until you do, to start using MCN.
i think if you are feeling at all nervous about starting, the worst thing would be to start off WITHOUT an easy way to deal with the poo, my personal theory is that the major reason for the majority of the population NOT using mcns, is the fear of poo!
Once you work out how easy getting rid of the poo IS, (using the little squirt), IMO< that's the battle won.
Not 100% of mcn users use one, but personally, i wouldn't have used MCN without one.
Your bamboo mcn products need 3 pre-washes (dry inbetween washes)
your hemp mcn products need 8 pre-washes
your pul/microfibre products need 1 pre-wash
use a mild washing detergent. use a small amount, don't use fabric conditioner.
The first step, to anything new, is the hardest step.
knowing you have somewhere to ask your troubleshooting questions to, is a great relief. especially if you know no-one in real life, who is using mcn, that you could ask.
you can ask at nappycino, ozclothnappies, here of course, the site you bought the nappies from, so much online help, you'll never be short of somewhere to ask.
no question is dumb
we ALL had the same questions at the start
no-one is born knowing all this stuff
the FAQ (freq asked questions) link at ozclothnappies is a great starting point resource too.
MCN will work
you do need to be set up to do it.
you need a routine in your house, to make it suit your household. things that will occur to you, the more time that you use mcn.
if you bought a car, but didn't buy the petrol to make it run, of course the car would fail.
we are all here for you TK, go on, take a big breath and just DO IT! :flowers: :applause:
hi all
still around but lurking most times...I'm waiting on 1 particular fluff mail this week and then I think I'd have my ideal nappy stash after trying out different types.
We're off to tassie this weekend, what's the weather like down there so I can prepare myself with enough nappies & clothes?
TIA
