I used both the sized ones and the OSFM pockets - both were fine on my kids. A little wide in the crotch area, but it never caused any leaks

Mel, how would you compare the BumG crotch width to a BBH magicall for example? I have a skinny babe and want to try a BumG. The magicalls were WAY to wide in the crotch for us so if BumG aren't as bad I will try and track on down cheap to give it a go.

Anyone else got any recommendations for smaller crotch and higher rise nappies? They seem to work best for us at this stage. Anyone tried the Wild Child work horse?

Lollybaby - Its been a LONG time since I used a magicall mate - but from memory, they were slimmer than the bumg's in the crotch. But I haven't used one since DD was a baby - have since gotten rid of them because they just didn't work for us.

lolly- I only have osfm BGs but they r pretty wide. From memory they were the same as the minky magicalls if not wider. Were u after sized nappies or osfm? If sized, I'd recommend Genesa forges. You could always request an extra set of snaps so it'd fit better. GF front snaps don't work for us, but I love the Sidesnaps even though Monsta can fit into mediums, I now have larges but with extra set of snaps so I'm pretty much set til he TT!

Fluffy mail!! Yay! My super cheap ittis! I got them delivered to work so DH didn't see. One of my staff is pg and she has been very interested in what I do with cloth so it was good to show them to her IRL. Maybe a convert???

Lollybaby BG's are pretty wide. They work well for us but so do magicalls and CTs. Maybe look out for a second hand one to try first.

Hoping my fluffy mail from ebay rocks up tomorrow as it's gonna be 34 compared to 17 on monday. Oh and the fact I wanna play with more nappies doesn't help too.

Had a friend over with a baby same age as Charlie who was interested in cloth so i leant her a BBH and a Cushie Tushies to try. She's been asking a million and one questions for weeks so I'm guessing she will probably convert. She was using the cloth nappy service but those nappies are awful.

were middle, not wide, not skinny, in the middle.
never got a Very Baby aio, but that is a narrow crotched brand (last of them on the weewuns site now, i think the VB lady that has the Aust VB license, has stopped making them).
dragonfly magik a12 (if you can get one!)

lotus a12 (no longer being made)

narrow fitteds:

narrow pockets:
swaddlebee SIZED pockets (not their OSFA ones)
blueberry SIZED pockets seem to be in the middle (not wide, not skinny)

the OSFA whizz kidz sidesnappers and OSFA Cute Tooshies bamboo delights, were two brands of OSFA FITTED nappies that have leg frills. The leg elastic is set in about one inch from the edge of the crotch width, so the crotch ends up being narrower than they first appear. Plus you can tuck in the leg frills, for the younger bub to make it trimmer again.

Lollybaby, i hear you. my child suited narrow crotched nappies too, so i had to make an concerted effort to track those type down. At first, i didn't even realise there was such a thing as wide or narrow crotched nappies. But it's mentioned more on US sites, that's where i discovered the difference actually existed. it's not as spelt out on the Aust sites.

we didn't use OSFA's for that reason. as much as i would have LOVED to have used all those yummy OSFA brands that do the wide crotch.

what i ended up doing (after many mistakes) was emailing EACH seller, adn asking them for the MEASUREMENT IN CM of the crotch width of the nappy i was considering buying.
i would compare that with the crotch width i knew my child suited, and then decide whether to go ahead.
e.g i knew 12cm wide was good for bilby
so if i got an email back, telling me the crotch of the nappy was 17cm, i knew not to go ahead and buy that one.

even with her three rolls of fat (from 4 - 11 months), she needed the narrow crotch nappies. i kept thinking, surely a chubba bubba would need wide nappies and fit the usual OSFA, but no, they were a terrible fit on her. Took ages for it to sink into my thick skull.

Helen - congrats on your win - the Mini la la - go to their product site - i think they use a HIDDEN PUL layer, not cotton laminated PUL - makes a difference.

Helen Mini lala's are gorgeous (I have a few ) but yes they don't last as long as others. I would only get 2 hours max out of them if I'm lucky.

I was just looking around and noticed another type of pocket...Fuzzibunz one size, which say they have up to 8 stages of adjustment in the leg and 4 in the waist..has anyone tried these?

GiGi thanks heaps mate! I will do some more investigating. I'm happy to go with sized nappies if I can manage to find ones that fit DS ok, so if you know of any sized options that are narrower let me know! I have some ittis that seem to be ok with regard to the crotch size, so will use that as my benchmark.

bimboo - sorry to hear about your pelvis pain! I was going to physio for it myself my last trimester so I have an inkling of wat you are feeling!! hope the chiro's work helps! your lil ones sound like they are having a ball inside! they'll keep you busy when they come out for sure!

AFU - I decided to order a fuzzibunz last night, they look really adjustable and got it new for nearly half price + postage! Susie has a bit of a rattly cough thing going on, but is sleepung and eating well and generally happy so just keeping an eye on her!

Reporting back on our first day exclusively in cloth....

...it went well

DS has been in ittis all day. We had a couple of leaks BUT one was when he was in it too long before changing - he went to sleep and I didn't want to wake him and they haven't really had enough pre-washing to be fully absorbent yet. I ended up doubling the trifold booster at the front of the nappy which worked better too (just folded it forward IYKWIM?)

And Gigi THANK YOU! I took some time out today to look into some of the narrower crotch ideas you gave me, and I've got some Whizz Kidz AI2s on the way WOOT! I managed to contact Tracee and get some measurements and advice from her, and hopefully they'll suit DS. I was at a stage where I was really sick and tired of trawling the web and trying to figure out if things would suit, but after using cloth all day I'm all inspired again and on a 'search and buy nappy' mission!

I think I'm showing the early signs of addiction hehehe

Whizz Kidz Tracee is lovely, and her nappies are a bit narrower in the crotch, than the crotch measurement, due to how the elastic is sewn in, you'll see what i mean, when yours arrives. Another similar nappy is the Cute Tooshies ai2.

MrsCAussie, you know, now i think i saw that "wing droop" info on the SHP newsletter, not the home page afterall, sorry for the bum steer. and now i can't find the newsletter email, i was going to cut n paste the relevant part for you.

BImboo - with your sidesnappers and the leg hole fit issues, are these OSFA or sized nappies? what is the weight of your bub, compared to the weight range of the nappy? e.g is your bub at the START of the recommended weight range, middle or end?
Do the nappies have leg frills? cos those type, you can turn the leg frills INSIDE to make the leg hole smaller.
i didn't use sidesnappers at nb stage, and i've gone blank, can't remember how old your baby is, all i remember is that you're preg with twins right now. (limited space in my memory you see ha ha).
But when my baby did have little chicken legs, (at nb stage) and NOTHING was fitting her right due to little chicken legs, what worked for us was:
- nb sized bamboo prefolds in nb sized PUL cover with leg gussets
- fitted nappies that closed with snappis e.g OSFA mandy macs and the smallest size tots bots - with a cover.
e.g highly adjustable nappy combos using Two Lines of Defense.
and a few malden mills pockets, our only exceptions to the Two Lines of Defense theory. cos PUL pockets and aio's did not work at all, during that stage.
Cos from arrival to four months old, bilby had such skinny legs.

(then she really chubbed up and my new challenge was how to nappy a bub with THREE rolls of fat on each thigh ha ha!)

lucky us mums are adaptable (and have online places to ask for help!).
