Whoo hoo - after my panic attack that I didn't have any small MAL covers I managed to pick some up at the nappy bucket!!

Still hoping to get some @ the stocking though

WOCB: prefold (that I seem to have dyed a nice purple cover after doing the prewash with my unwashed coloured spew nappies ) and ice blue dot minky MAL cover

    Hey Ali, missed ya.
BG, dont weigh your bubba, I did mine yesterday and he is in the bottom 25 so now I m sad
Then I just read Mrs C's post and my kid weighs more than hers and she is a day older, so now I am confused
Off to melb 2moro, not taking much fluff, meant to be cold (shock horror!) so no point in any of the showy ones and they will prob take ages to dry, so just some pop ins and tri folds and my GK bamboo boosters, prob only enough for 10 changes, 5 per day so will prob ending up using some sposies.
    Gotta run, still packing.
God help you poor women that pack up families of 3 and 4 kids...
WOLB, in bed for the night, sposie

what i tried to post last night at 1.30am

Yes TK, you ARE smart. i failed "flats 101", so you are my new heroine.

    MrsCAussie
"the GK looks good on so see how it goes definitely like the bamboo boosters over microfibre boosters. just one question...most pockets seem to have microfibre/suedecloth next to bubs skin, is that likely to cause her any irritations? to date shes been used to bamboo terry next to her skin. but then shes got a cold at the moment and teething a bit so the red dry rash shes got could be related to that too...its not overly sore looking just itchy atm which makes me wonder if it could be from the non-natural fibres!"

after reading that, this is wot popped into my skull
    1. Greenkids have an inner layer of suedecloth
    2. Most pockets have microFLEECE (not microFIBRE) or suedecloth as the stay dry layer.
Yes, that is 100% synthetic and some bubs react ONLY to suedecloth,
some bubs react to ANY synthetic fabric next to their skin (bilby did this from 14 months onwards).

    3. a way to test this out, is to put your bub in nothing but NATURAL fibres against her skin for a day. Observe.
put your bub in nothing but SUEDECLOTH inners against her skin for a day. Observe
put your bub in nothing but MICROFLEECE inners against her skin for a day. Observe.
Stop using whatever she reacts to.

If your bub reacts to synthetic inners - there is a compromise - you could LIE INSIDE her nappies, natural fibre liners.
If she rashes everywhere the liner isn't, then you'll need to go further, e.g put in her in nappies with natural fibre inners/synthetic outers.
ANd an option further from that, is to put her into natural fibre nappies inside and out, with wool soakers for the waterproof bit. i had to go to that extent for bilbs. then after a few months, i gradually got her back to natural inners/synthetic outers. and to tolerate a staydry liner in her night nappy.

when i was totally fixated on fixing nappy rash (bilby had a REALLY bad outbreak at 14 months), i tried SO MANY things, and realised, it's not ONE thing that causes it, i was trying so many things, i couldn't wait to try ONE thing for a day and observe, i was so anxious to make her feel better. It was a combination of many things, that people advised me on, so i went about changing
    - how i washed the nappies (washing powder, the amount used, long rinse cycle)
    - how i changed bilby (patting her bottom dry with a dry facewasher, after cleaning her, leaving her bott naked for a few minutes to "air" the skin
    - what fabrics i put next to her skin (avoiding synthetic once i worked out she did react to that)
    - made new liners from natural fibres (flannelette and cotton velour)
    - made sure i read the ingredients list on any product i put on her skin (bath stuff, hair stuff, rash stuff, EVERYTHING)
so it wasn't One Solution, rather a whole raft of things.

    Ryatha
    sidesnapping mcn fitted my child
    - when she had chicken legs
    - when she had three rolls of fat on each thigh
    - when she slimmed down (once crawling/walking started)
that's why i think they are SO adjustable
cos my baby REALLY tested them out, by changing shape ALOT.
    but she is also short
only hit 86cm when over 2.5years old.

Alioops - i've been wondering where you've been hiding! Bilbs and i would love to catch up with you and meet the newest member of your girl tribe at xmas.

Good work on finding a cream that helps Em's skin. what a relief that must be (for both of you!).

    Aww thanks Gigi

Mmm question... do you think DD is becoming more aware of the urine next to her skin in changing over from sposies and it is waking her? I have noticed since we started in cloth during the day that if she goes down for a sleep in cloth she usually wakes after 20-30mins but if in a sposie she will sleep for approx 2 hours. At first I thought it was a stage she was going through of catnapping... she did catnaps all day one and two which were cloth days then slept longer at night when in sposies. The longer night sleeps aren't out of the ordinary for her so it could have just been that she wanted the longer sleep but then day three when she was in cloth it was catnaps again and then we had no cloth dry that would fit her so I put her in a sposie and she slept longer (just over 2 hours) do you think it was just luck she slept longer or is being wet waking her? Each time she wakes from the cat naps she is either wet or dirty.

Hope that long question makes sense LOL

WOCB: sposie - I am trying out my sleep theory again (so far she has been asleep for 50mins)

TK - depends what nappies they are - most of mine have the "stay dry" layer against their butt so unfortunately - mine are both just shocking sleepers.. LOL

TK - could be. just make sure you have stay dry inners.

    FAK

Gigi - i want to go to ikea at some point and get more trains and a roll of drawing paper while we are down there, maybe we could meet there? I will have my mumma bus coz we are driving down so will have a bit more space this time than in SIL's daihatsu charade.

BG - our scales have died. I use the wii fit if I cant get somewhere with scales and i want to see how much the kids weigh. Leah gets monthly home visits anyway though so I dont worry about her with the amount she pees.

I am looking forward to mid november, checking out the other MCN in town at an expo. should be a great weekend.

Arimeh - at the moment it is all prefolds or flannelette flats/terry flats with covers... I do use a "chux" (our name for a nappy liner) to make the poo situation easier. She did wear a spunky butts and a cute tooshie (I think it was that) and same thing happened. She doesn't fit into the small ittis or green kids or other MCNs that I have.

Ali - what kind of inners are stay dry?

TK - Microfleece and suedecloth. I use liners when I have non water soluble creams in Em's nappies or for tar poo. If we are having the 'I'm wet change me when the nappy is not full' days I use them too.

I love the postman! Fluffy mail for me today - 2 Whizz Kidz side snapping AI2s. Tried them on Will briefly and looks like they'll be awesome. So much room to adjust the sizing, I'm very impressed. Got a gorgeous blue dot minky with a chocolate inner, and a yellow cuddlefleece. Very nice.

Rhyb - how'd the scan go hun? I had a friend come over today and visit with her twins, she is a triplet herself!

Do I just search the types of nappies I have to see what the inners are made of? or should I buy some additional inners made of this?

TK - if you tell us what type of nappies they are, we should be able to tell you what their inner is. Or you could look it up yourself - it should have it on the websites
