Jennifer - If they are the ones I sent you, they are Flexitots OSFM. My favourite was the white one. White goes with everything! BTW I did do a strip wash before sending so I hope they didn't smell :)

RE BBH - I used to dry mine inside out (my medium MagicAlls) and the leg elastic has gone in all of them. I think because the sun damaged it, it went all brown & brittle. I bought them new for DS & he has a skinny butt so he wore the mediums for AGES! DD has been wearing them for a while now too but they leak all the time because the elastic is shot. I now only hang them the right way out. Takes forever to dry but I love the nappies. I'm hoping to be able to fix them as DD should still fit them for a few more months & they are my favourites, so that leads me to my question for you lovely ladies...

Advice please: Any ideas on how to replace the elastic in the MagicAlls? I really don't want to sew them by hand but can't see any other way besides pulling them apart completely.

Maybe I should just buy some new ones - maybe green kids. I have heaps of them & love them too. Can't even part with the trucks one yet lol!

Well, I know I don't need any more nappies, but how can I pass up on an opportunity if someone is giving them away for free or next to nothing on Gumtree? Some were pretty too. So I'm going by tomorrow to collect them.

All the NB nappies are now away for my sister and DD2 is starting to get to the limits of the Sandys XSmall. :( but I am enjoying using the nappies that now fit her! The BBH Magic-Alls Sm are a good fit now too. Rowellen's TotBots are probably my favourites though.

If you need to strip wash every 4 to 6 weeks there is a problem somewhere in the routine, i only ever did it if an issue came up..not even every 6m..

I haven't strip washed yet, 11 weeks in. I have noticed the nappies I had new are getting more absorbent now they've been used numerous times.

I'm really impressed at how well they clean, since I'm not using liners. Any minor stains are gone as soon as i hang them in the sun. Does anyone else not use liners?

My nanny, who starts next week (one day a week to come with me into the city), is fine to use cloth thankfully and already does at her other nannying job.

I only use liners for daycare. I don't really have any issues with staining. Sometimes, a stain might appear but after a few more uses, it goes. It amazes me how well the sun works. It surprises me that so few people use cloth. I am the only one at our centre who uses cloth nappies. Maybe some do for home but no-one else does for daycare. On the plus side, it means I don't have to name DD's nappies. I had read that some daycares won't allow cloth at all but when I asked they seemed thrilled that I used them and loved the AIO styles that I provided.

I only use a liner if I'm pretty sure there's going to be a poo in that nappy. I always forget though and then I'm stuck scraping it with the poo knife.

I'm not using liners at the moment. Little Boy only tends to poo every 3-4 days, and it's still runny so just rinses off. Maybe once he starts eating proper solids more regularly if his poo becomes annoying to get off I might change my tune, but until then I can't see a point.

I only use liners for cream. And before solids, I found that nappies were super easy to clean too! Now sometimes it's a bit trickier. Multigrain bread. OMG, I am over that stuff.

About this time last year I'm sure I had a top quality whinge about my snappis and how they always went missing. Well now they really do. DD can reach them, and takes them for walks. She also demanded that her teddy wear one of her pretties. I thought "yeah, yeah, OK, if you'll chill out and let me spew in peace, you can do that" - thinking I'd just whip it off when she went to bed. Not so - he is in bed with her. Sandy Bear had better not stain that nappy!

Picked up a pretty Mini Lala from Gumtree today, used it already!

I think DD2 is starting to slow down on the poos, started the morning with a ripper (no poosplosions here - thanks to great covers!), but then I had a few wet nappies only during the day. Finally!

*sob* My Sandys XSms have gone into the stash to pass on to my sister. And I really need to get some M covers, because the S ones are just barely going over the nappies at night time now. The MotherEase ones are better, but I can't believe how quickly DD2 is now growing out of the rest!

BBH have a sale atm, I might have to go and check it out. ;)

:hug: Jennifer. I know the feeling. I'm getting ready to sell off my medium BBH as they are a tight squeeze on DD now. I'm putting it off as I can still just fit them on her but I think it's almost time. I've already had to retire my medium IB's. Very sad. At least the large size lasts a while :lol:

I have some really unnecessary fluffy mail on the way, but I've convinced myself that an extra night nappy is a very good idea since she's bound to need more absorbency soon. I do like that when she has the BBH night nappy on overnight it's not completely soaked through in the morning.

I'm doing a very bad job of not buying any more. But someone on Gumtree is practically giving away BBHs and TotsBots that are barely used! I'm picking them up in the next few days. Honestly, how can you walk away?

Anyone used Pikapaus? She has some of those too. I'm going to be able to go through my MCNs and immediately pass on my less loved ones to my sister now!

You must have good gumtree people near you. I have checked a few times and only found BBH (or china cheapies) and generally not that cheap either. I can get BBH new on special for a better price.

I have got a few funky ones from people here. Genesa Forge seem to be so much more absorbent and just better made (than BBH and Ittis) - do they use better materials or am i imagining it?

It was a great Gumtree score. She had Totsbots, BBHs and Pikapus. I didn't take the Pikapus because I really don't need any more nappies. The BBHs were brand new! She even had three BBH M PUL covers and a roll of liners that she gave me. And the Totsbots are pretty girly nappies to snazzy up my stash.

I'm going to gift some of my stash to my sister and SIL. Atm the BBHs are absorbent enough to do DD2 through the night. I like the night nappies best, they're not soaked by the morning, but she does okay with the others. She must be a lighter wetter during the night (and no poos until after she wakes up).

GFs are ace. They are incredibly well made, about a third of our stash is GFs. I prefer front snappers, but I just grab what's good when I see it.

Finally caved and bought Moogoo the other day. Win. We're dealing with some baaaaad rash, but it's coming good, slowly but surely, between the moogoo and a cornflour/arrowroot blend. Which DD sprinkled all over the floor today. So at least her carpet will be rash free. :lol:

Murphy's Law = going out in a nice new pretty nappy without a liner because you don't think you're due for a poo....and getting a doozy!

lol, the only thing surer than death and taxes is that my baby will crap in her WeeHugger, usually as soon as it's out of the wash.

I picked up a swim nappy for DD2 yesterday. She starts lessons in a couple of months. Anyone used one before? DD1 used to poo as soon as she got into the warm pool when she was a baby. It was dreadful to clean up. :rolleyes:

I now have such a pretty stash that DD2 can mess up all of them. I'm taking my SIL a pile tomorrow because even though she tried cloth with no 1, she gave up because of leakage. She didn't have the wealth of knowledge that is the BB MCN area. ;) So I'm going to pass some of that on too.

I also want to recommend covers to her. My faves are my BBH PUL covers, but what does everyone else prefer? I have others that are good, but I found the BBHs gave me the best coverage and containment.

I love the BBH PUL covers. I also had a bummis & a thirsties cover which I loved. But BBH was the best :) I got a motherease rikki cover which everyone on here was raving about at the time but I didn't like it much. I didn't like the closure or the prints. Good size & worked well though.

I have had both my kids in monkey doodles swim nappies. Love them. They've never poo'd in them so that's lucky for me.

Part of me can't wait for DD to TT because I am sick to death of nappies :lol: but I know I'll miss them when they are all gone.

was it in here someone was asking about reds running? did anyone work out if they did and what they did to avoid it? I have 2 brandnew BBH red which came with warning, seems a waste just to do them on their own! think if i do them with the other dark and coloured ones it will be ok, and just do the white/light ones seperately?
and hot or cold? it said hot, aren't they more likely to run in hot? i guess then i can make sure they run and get it out of their system right? TIA

Yes they do run! I washed mine with a bunch of other red/orange clothing just to be safe and the white liner ended up a distinct shade of pink. It does wash out eventually but I wouldn't put them in with any light coloured stuff for the first 2-3 washes. After that they should be fine, I stick mine in with all the others without any problems now.

Has anyone ever used prefolds as boosters? The boys are huge wetters and was thinking as well as the 2 inserts using a prefold for night time

I use pre folds as boosters all the time. Especially in pockets and at night time. Pre folds are excellent!

I *used* to use prefolds as boosters. Now they are blankets in the "nursery" where DD lines up all of her teddies, dolls, stuffed octopus and other plush loves to sleep on them, with small boosters lying on top, then kisses them all and says "sshhhhhh" Cute.

I love TotsBots covers, Maz covers, Loveybums. We couldn't use anything with FOE after about 12 weeks as DD started getting the red welts on her legs that took weeks to fade. So our BBH covers had to go.

What's FOE, Audax? I have noticed a couple of cheapie boosters have made DD2 go quite red, so they aren't used against her skin anymore, just as stuffers.

Fold Over Elastic. Like on BBH covers, and some other brands I used to have. Was over a year ago, so I'm foggy as the Dalton Highway right now (was just watching Ice Road Truckers; forgive my randomness)

Swim nappies! I use Bonnibuns, because I got it as a freebie. Really happy with it, but we've never had a poo, maybe that's why! DD has been in the medium size since 7 months, not showing many signs of graduating either!

So.... what do you reckon I need to think about for when #2 arrives? So many options, and I just don't know! Mum reckons DD will toilet train by then. I think unlikely, and she will regress when baby arrives anyway. DH reckons just buy another pack of terry flats. I reckon not cute enough.
Kind of leaning towards a small stack of extra OSFMs, to cover all bases. I like to have lots of nappies; it rains so much and I'll never own a dryer. Thoughts, anyone?

Do you want NB nappies, Audax? I had a heap of Cheeky Butts minis that I loved. Microfleece and sized to last to about three months. Better NB nappies than Lil Joeys, which were good too. Sounds like you have enough OSFM, so in order to enable you further... ;)
