another question re logistics... do you change the nappy, put new one on bub then ler bub down to do what bubs do and then take nappy to loo and then back to bucket? we only have one bucket next to change table.
Hey, I've run out of magic stick and DS has a nasty rash, is bepanthen safe with my nappies? I don't think it has zinc? And does anyone know of a supplier that does free post? I'm too stingy to pay $7+ for a magic stick :/
LN I don't know anywhere that technically does 'free' post but look up rcbabycreations, she's a wahm and travels to Perth all the time and has told me is happy to go a little out of her way to drop an order off if you send her an email... Tho I'm not sure where in Perth u are and know she lives near northam. As for bepanthen I think you're not 'supposed' to use it with mcn but I would if bad nappy rash, if you have liners I wouldn't think I few times would affect the nappies too bad??
ETA the other place for magic stick I'd suggest is booloobabe she's in Belmont/cloverdale if that's not to far to drive?
PS I totally agree on paying heaps of postage it drives me nuts... Is rather spend it on fuel and buy from a small business/wahm :D

If I'm doing a big order postage doesn't bother me as most places are flat rate. But for 1 magic stick.... Unless I can think of something else I need :D
Yup I'm the same I figure while yes it does coat money to post something I still don't want to double the amount I'd be spending! Be warned if you go see Sam at booloobabe that you may very well leave with much more than one magic stick lol :rofl: I was actually going to pop in there today as I was in Belmont but decided not to coz it'd be to tempting to get much more than really needed today :D
I am totally in love with my woollen cover. I washed it with Lanolin and it's only been soiled once to need another wash. It breathes so well I'm using it at night. The nappy is a lot less soggy in the morning than with microfleece or PUL covers. Absolutely no leakage and so soft! I am going to get the woollen overalls for winter.

Lady_neon, Sam at Booloobabe is lovely - I've bought all my MCNs from her, and have only been using the magic stick and nothing else for nappy rash. If we use it every few changes, DS stays clear, and if we get slack and he gets a bit of rash, the magic stick clears it up within a few changes. Sam has dropped off my orders each time, but I've made quite big orders. As you know I live not far from you. :)
speaking of covers. i only have 2 and only need/use them o/n with her nn. i wash only use them once and then wash them. but means i have to wash minimum every 2nd day even tho my stash is big enough to last 3-4days.
do i have to wash covers every use? they are pul (i think...) would just airing them be ok for a 2nd use? or should i try and get more?

You could just rinse the cover in the sink and dry it pretty quickly if they are PUL. I wash every day or two anyway just cos i don't like nappies sitting around too long.
Yeah PUL covers only need to be washed if they are soiled. I think BBH (could be another site) recommend having at least two & alternating them. I wash every second day and I have enough to last 6 days :o The smell is too much and the urine can damage the nappies if left too long.
I have enough covers to just wash, but my minkee and wool ones get an airing and they're good to go. PUL seem to hold the urine smell more.

Yes, itti bitti have their own you tube Chanel with a great one on fitting all their nappies. I'm new to Mcn's and also had problems with magicalls but the sio, aio and tuttos from itti bitti are brilliant. Even only after 2 washes they are lasting 3plus hours.
I wash my covers whenever I wash. So I just air them, and then when the bin's full, toss them in with it.
Just got a new washing machine delivered. Fingers crossed its a good un.
DD2is doing epic newborn poos (a whole new world for me after having a fortnightly pooer) so were rocking the fitteds and covers, but if I don't get to it fast enough it leaks out the gusset seam. Ewwww.
I've just been rereading the posts about nappy creams etc. Are zinc based creams no good for Mcn's?
We are currently using Moo Goo which is Zinc based with a liner.

Zinc based ones get into the fibres of your nappies and clog them, making them less water absorbant and sometimes repellant => leaks. It's hard yakka removing it too so many people have to ditch them.
If you're using a liner it should be fine.

Moogoo MSN is a great alternative, after seeing it recommended I went and bought it. Haven't needed anything else with DD2 and still on the first tub after about 10 mths. Lasts for ages.

I use moogoo MSN. She got a really sore bum the other day from 3 really acidy poos, moogoo cleared it up in a day. and your right, lasts forever!

What night nappies do you LOVE for an older baby and/or toddler? I am so VERY sick of buying disposables for bedtime but don't wanna spend heaps on nappies that aren't gonna cut the mustard- hence only having enough for one night each child atm. TIA :D
I like the BBH NN but it takes ages to dry, so you'd need a few. Also like these Supernights ones I got secondhand on here. Honestly, if I'm stuck my good old BBH basics with an extra prefold and cover do the job as well.

Hmm thanks Jennifer. I've been thinking about the bbh have heard they are good. Have you used or know anyone that has used itti bitti night nappies? I know they need a cover (like most NNs) but they are considerably cheaper than most others and after trying heaps of other day time nappies I always go back to ittis...
I have bitti boos, but didn't find they lasted well overnight. My ds would sleep for 12hrs and normally leak by morning even with cover. I like the bbh nn and bamboo fitteds with extra booster, for night time.
I like Bitti Boos but also like the sandman nappies for nights with a cover

WM thanks, if ds2 wears cloth overnight atm he's just in a tutto with a second mini booster and is nearly always completely dry with the occasional damp spot on his pants, so I don't think he is a very heavy night wetter?? Unlike my older children... Who btw I am still definitely considering getting pullups from you for but they wouldnt do overnight would they?

I just received my bitti boo's and tried it last night, didn't add the mini booster and it was really soaked by morning - luckily no leak tho! Might be better after couple more washes. And perhaps with a breathable cover, I just put a pul one on.
I was wondering, what makes them "night nappies"? I could have used a d'lish with mini booster, and not needed a cover?

I think what makes them night nappies is that they are expected to cope with up to 12hrs on for wee.:
The IB d'lish don't need covers. When I first went looking for an overnight nappy for ds1 I used IB d'lish with the mini booster and it worked alright (until he decided to be a heavier overnight wees)
Hmm so did you start using boo's or something else? I kind of asked IB, they said the boo is made of all natural fibers so I guess making them waterproof would introduce synthetics! I find it really bulky tho to have so many boosters in the boo, then another cover on top...
I started with d'lish then moved to genessa forge super super (super? - cant remember if there's 3 supers or not; they have 17 layers) trim night nappies until DH refused to put them on and we swapped to sposies overnight.:

Cattie NNs are notoriously bulky.
I'm another that loved GFs. They're a bit trimmer but still really absorbent.
My kids don't last 4 hours in a d'lish even if it is boosted.
I have heard heaps of people rave about Rawr night nappies. Haven't used them myself though.
