DD2's poos are still mostly runny-ish at 12 mths, and I find the flushable liners are a huge help - I'm only sorry I waited so long to try them! Means most of what I have to rinse off with the nappy sprayer is flushed, leaving me less work. I don't leave dirty nappies in the bucket until they're rinsed (which I usually do immediately). Too much chance of staining if I don't wash for a couple of days. We have a lot of nappies, so I only wash a couple of times a week.
Yep I'd use liners for even a little bub now too! I didn't for my first few coz itti bitti (what I nearly always use) say you don't have to but makes SUCH a difference I think you'll be amazed like pholi I have flushable that can also go in washing machine, I've tried practically every kind out there and these are imho the best by far & going on previous posts very likely the same brand as pholi, tho I got some for sil and she didn't like them coz she's using peapods and said they shrunched up a bit or something- I've never had that happen as for rinsing I only rinse if there's extra poo the liner missed or a really strong wee, otherwise just drypail and cold rinse before cold/warm wash. Nearly all mcn you shouldnt regularly hot wash and even a strip should only be 60'c max I'm pretty sure- works for me anyways
Btw nope still no luck getting night nappies as yet but its mostly coz I've got questions to ask before I buy and still haven't been able to get hold of anyone, weird really. Tbh I'd like something to pop up on gumtree that I can pick up when I head to the city tomorrow but doesn't look likely unfortunately.

Hi FL As you know I haven't been mcn-ing much longer than you, but I used to use liners, and I find they do help a lot, most of the poo even if runny gets caught and there's only a bit on the sides left. But dd doesn't poo too often so I ditched the liners for now. When she does poo, I get off as much as I can with tissue then I actually soak it in plain water, I don't like the idea of poo floaties in the machine.
And I know you don't need to rinse before dry-pailing, but I do... it makes me feel better lol! I might stop it but for now I don't find it much effort. Plus it means if I want to wash every three days instead of two, at least the nappies haven't been seeping in pee for three days!
I wash on 30degrees, but I think the itti bitti instructions said to occasionally do a 60deg wash so I might do that, haven't yet.
pholi or hsm, what brand liners are you guys using?

just went to bunnings and got everything I need to make a little squirt for $30. helps DH's cousin is the plumbing expert at our store so he got me exactly what i need and showed me how to do it. so if anyone else needs to know what you need i can let you know =)
The itti liners are the best I have tried but I got some cheapies that do the job. DD2 is predictable with poos now so I just use them in the morning until she goes and then don't bother. I can probably go back to ittis at one a day but I now have two 200 packs.
Ooo I'm excited! Just found someone on Baby Bargains selling her entire twins stash for $200. Mostly BBH and some 'sunbum' (I think that's what she said) going to pick them up Thursday!
I have used itti liners and tbh I couldn't wait to use them up! (no offense Jen ) I found they were practically falling apart as I was taking them out of the nappy even with just wees. My second favorite would be happy babes but have found I had to very carefully hand wash if only wet and could really only get away with two uses before chucking coz they were 'holey', so in short I really like the liners from booloo babe, I haven't tried the bamboo ones coz I figured I wouldn't get as much use out of them. All depends on what you want tho.

I bought liners from woolworths after a dear bb buddy told me about them, they seem fine but I haven't tried anything else. I'm not sure they're flushable tho, and never tried washing cos they're so cheap anyway!
The ad says approx 24 nappies, mostly BBH. When I rang she said she didn't know exactly how many nappies there were- but is a giant Ikea bag full! I'm checking them out next Thursday. Also she has a 'little squirt' for $50. Thinking about getting it, but will I need it if I use bamboo liners? If anybody else is interested in it PM me and we can organize something.
At the moment I'm still using sposies as night nappies. Apparently there are a few BBH NN in this bundle, so I'm hoping to go straight cloth after this week. I figure if I can get a stash nappies for under $400 that's less than what I pay for a years worth of sposies!

And no offence taken, HSM. Different things work on different bubs. They are softer than the no name brand I'm currently using, so probably would be more inclined to fall apart. I probably don't have them on my DD2 for that long. Part of why I liked them is that they are so soft she can barely tell they're there. ITMS.
I don't use liners. Mostly cause he wears itti's during the day and his poop still gets on the pooh fence. Doesn't bother me to squirt it off. That, and I cannot find flushable liners in my local Coles, Woolies or pharmacies. And I'm too cheap to pay post. Haha.

So I've found dd's overnight swaddle has a pee smell, even though I'm pretty sure there's no leak. Does anyone else find this? I was thinking after I get my breathable covers, it might get worse since it's meant to let some pee evaporate?!
I love my Little Squirt (best baby shower gift EVER, thank you big sis!), but learnt something interesting just before Christmas - We had a plumber in, doing some work in our bathroom (which is separate to the toilet) but he saw the Little Squirt in the toilet, and told us that they are actually illegal! The problem is that IF you left the head of it lying in the toilet bowl, in the water, and something happened to the mains on your supply line, there's a possibility that it could suck up toilet water which would then enter and contaminate the mains. I can't really understand it, but that's basically what he said. He also added that Australia's incredibly strict laws on things like this are the reason that our mains water is consistently safe to drink, and it's why it is not safe to drink in many developing countries.
He didn't report us to anyone, thank goodness, and we would never leave it resting in the bowl anyway, but I thought I'd pass on this bit of information. I haven't bothered going on line to verify it independently, but tbh we use it too much to want to get rid of it.
