That's correct Pholi, a couple of ladies were talking about using the micro fleece liners while needing to use nappy cream on a rash so I figured if they are using cream anyway I'd suggest something that would help heal the rash quicker.
I haven't had to use nappy cream on Baby Ks bum since starting cloth. In fact I've had to put it in his neck folds more than his bum!
Hmm... I would do my utmost to avoid anything that's going to gum up my nappies, even though I use a liner. With DS's latest bout, the rash was literally everywhere the nappy touched - across his lower belly, all over both bum cheeks, around the outside of his hips where the sides of the nappy wrap around... For us, a liner wouldn't do a thing to keep cream off the nappy. We've been using Magic Stick, which is cloth-friendly. I'd love to have another alternative, though.

Yes unfortunately for cloth nappy users zinc is often a better option because while non-zinc or non-barrier creams may sooth or start to heal, because baby is weeing/pooing/has wetness against their skin, they often need some sort of barrier product or the wetness just takes off the lotion/cream- it can't do much if it doesn't stay on the skin.
I'm starting to see my Burt's Bees on my MCNs even with a flushable liner so I think I'll look into the microfleece.
Just out of curiosity those babies with rashes what type of MCN are you using?
One lady I met on the buy/sell/swap group had to change her whole stash from pocket nappies to bamboo or organic cotton because they discovered the rash her baby got was an allergy to the synthetic linings. So basically she had a lot of expensive BBH Magic-Alls she had to sell, then buy the bamboo or hemp fitted and covers.
we use dragonfly magics and bbh. she does occasionally get a rash with thebbbh butbits different to the angry blister rash. its more red pimples and goes away with next nappy change.
Mine are all GroVia hybrids, but I have half 100% cotton, and half hemp with a microfleece stay-dry liner sewn-in. Theoretically, the stay-dry ones should be better but when DS had his teething nappy rash, it made no difference which ones he was in. But then, we also use a flushable liner.
What other products are meant to be designed for use with mcns? Is the Burts Bees ones meant to be ok? Moogoo?
I had issues due to teething not allergies. His wee and poo is really acidic when teething, it makes my eyes water.

I like the moo goo msm soothing cream and the excema psoriasis cream for fast healing. I don't think it clogs the nappies.
I have one kid who's not so great with synthetics, and the other who reacts to natural/absorbent fibres being next to her skin. Lucky I have a big stash!:

Boo to putting my little man back in sposies for 24 hours :( he has his first lot of needles today and I don't want the rotavirus vaccine to stain his nappies.
I ended up buying 8 ittis during the festival which arrived today yay! I then told dh about the 20% off sale and he was like "you need more nappies after all these?!" lol. I agreed I'd wait for their le's :)

Dd's rash is stable tho not gone, the sposie o/n seems to clear and 'reset' it each day! Makes me a bit sad tho so I may try cloth again soon with the fleece liner...

I just bought 12 AIO's in the new colours. Now to sell my new medium SIO's hahaha. Have small snap in ones and they dont fit DS right so im selling them.
Where do you guys sell your MCNs?
I've got the SIOs- don't like them as much as the sized AIOs because the Itti AOIs dry pretty quickly... I find the SIO aspect a bit unnecessary.
Im on a few of the MCN buy and sell pages. There is one called MCN itti bitti buy swap and sell - That is the best one.
I think SIO are designed more for boys because they are mean to be more absorbant, but I find they are too bulky on my bubba. We use Bitti boos at night anyway so I dont mind if I have to change him more often during the day, it means I can show off my nappies :)
How are the bitty boos? I use Bambooty night nappies on DD at night but despite the extra layers I still have to add an extra booster in myself. When she was younger I had to add two extras.
I love the bitti boo's but I havent used anything else. I just use the normal boosters and a fleece cover and it last 8pm til 6am
My ds is a heavy wetter, and we find bitti boos only last 3hrs during day and not overnight. So we tend to do other fitteds like bbh and sandmans.

I agree the itti aio dries just as quick as the sio, they're great! I think the sio is good if you have extra boosters and just want to change them and reuse shell, or in winter you could chuck the boosters in the dryer... but I just got 4 more aio cos they are so easy, and 4 tuttos cos I love the colors (the lilac and baby pink are just gorgeous!) I find the boo fine but a bit too bulky...

We just had needles too. We don't get rotavirus, so haven't had to worry about that, but I have noticed that being a cloth user makes me a little less dose-happy with the paracetamol! Haven't used it yet with this kid.
We got fluffy mail yesterday! Two mumma pads, new booster for the baby, and a pretty for the toddler. Who is now toilet training. Sigh. And we're going away tomorrow, so won't get to put it on for ages!

What is paracetamol mean to do to poos/wees/nappies? I've given it to DS on occasion in the last few weeks, but I haven't noticed anything...?
And why not use cloth after the rotavirus? (Such a newbie cloth user, obviously.)

My Coco Baby pockets arrived- they are sooooo pretty! I want to do the pre washes now so i can get DD's chubby little butt into them but it's been raining all day here :(
The sorbitol in the panadol stains MCN. But only some kids excrete enough to do it. I've had 3 in cloth and never had a stain.
Amy, I've never switched to disposables after the rotavirus vaccine. Actually, I think I did with DD1's first one, and then I read some stuff and realised I didn't need to. I'll see if I can find it.
Oh really? Even the nurse that gave the vaccine mentioned staining when she saw that I used cloth :/ never mind he's just had another dose of Panadol for a temp so I'll keep him in them for another 24 hours.
wow I had no idea about panadol. ive not noticed. I have one dfm insert that is threas bare in places, no idea why as its the only one. we still use it tho as it still seems to work fibe.
I called itti bitti today cause 1 of my trifold soakers has pink mottled stains on it and came out of the wash with holes in it. Kath from itti bitti said that medication can cause the soakers to deteriorate or sometimes it's really strong wee that can do it. Strange that it's just the 1 trifold and nothing else.
Has anyone else seen this pinky mottled looking stain on soakers?
as anyone tried cloth pull ups? we are toilet training, and using disposable pull ups is killing me!
I've had three kids now in cloth with the rotavirus vax - no staining here.
Also never had panadol staining.

It is only the actual Panadol brand that stains not the chemist own brands etc. its something to do with an ingredient that is in it.
I've heard its most brands of paracetamol, coz they have the artificial sweetener in it.
I've had panadol staining, but luckily for me they have always sunned out. And were only on bamboo insert of pockets.
I've found it's the 'cherry' flavour paracetamol is the one that stains (not just nappies but clothes as well)
Dymadon doesn't seem to stain as it doesn't have colour additives.

Sounds like a sorbitol stain. THere's only one brand of paracetamol that doesn't have it, but for the life of my I can't remember which one.:
I believe the rotavirus is because people are worried about the partially live virus being excreted.
I think dymadon stained a couple of my ittis with ds1 (refused to take panadol, whereas ds2 refuses dymadon :rolleyes: )
Anyway was coming in to see if anyone knows how hard it is to replace leg elastic in ittis? I've got a SIO which one side has definitely gone :( and I've got a few more which are on the way out but not quite gone. Can't afford to buy more so need to work out if fixing is a viable option. (Not bad for about 3 years life with a bit if vac packing in the middle)
