Sorry, but IMO whoever decided this didn't have teething children!!!!!
DD1 - I had no clue til she grinned at me one day & there was a tooth there. But by the time she was getting her molars her poor little bum was blistered from the nappy rash & diarrhea though. (She was just walking & would take off every time I tried to change her nappy, so I couldn't get it off asap.)
DD2 got her first at 5.5 months, but I only really remember her being unsettled for a day or 2 before.
DS has been a bad dribbler since birth. It's not nearly as bad now. He had his first night of screaming with bright red cheeks at about 4.5 months.
Then nothing til a few weeks ago. They are moving around. Red cheeks, irritable, diarrhea, chewing. All of it & STILL no teeth!
Poor bubba, I hope they come through soon.
BTW - You will also get told they will not get fever, diarrhea or nappy rash from teething. They get them all. The nappy rash is coz their wee produces more ammonia while teething, that reacts to the diarrhea some how & burns their poor little bottoms.
The diarrhea smells really bad & it can cause really bad nappy rash, so be prepared.
