My 9 month old is about to cut his 6th tooth but on his gum in that position is a purple/black mound. At first I thought a black tooth was going to come through but DH seems to think that it could be a blood clot.
Has anyone else had this? Will the tooth still come through as normal bringing the clot with it (if it is indeed a clot) or should I take him to see a doctor or dentist??
All his other teeth have come through normally and this tooth doesnt seem to be bothering him at all which is why I havent taken him to see a doctor/dentist yet.
I have no idea! But maybe its just bruised? Can you give him something cold to chew on? Whenever I mention dentist visits for my Pip to my dentist, she says can't do anything.
Thanks Kazbah. I dont think it is bruised because you can almost see the blood clot under the skin. He has been chewing on his toys as normal but like I said, he is his normal happy self so am tempted not to do anything at this stage.
I'll just keep an eye on it and if it gets worse, I"ll take him to the doctor.
google some information about teething I seem to remember something about blisters sometimes forming before teeth come through for some bubbas (may be that ?) other wise just check with a clinic sister or something, hope the teeth come through soon for you...goodluck
Sounds a little like blood blister TD. Could it be from the chewing while the tooth is coming through? It it's not bothering him too much it think it's a good idea just to keep an eye on it.
its called an eruption cyst!! very normal and generally painless, will dissapear as the tooth erupts, ive heard about them but never actually saw one in my time as a dental nurse!
