Hi there,
Just thought I would tell you my story. My son was born a week late. I breastfed him, and he started showing signs of what I was told was bad wind from about three weeks of age. At this time he also started catnapping and being very unsettled during the day. He always slept fairly well at night, just waking for feeds. By about 9 weeks of age , things deteriorated rapidly. He was refusing feeds, was upset and doing a lot of back arching. We started on Zantac, with no effect. We then had him tested for lactose intoleranace, and were referred to a pead . The tests indicated that he may have lactose intolerance, so we started doing both formula and BF. He was put on Nexium tabs and mylanta. Things did not improve much, so we went to all formula feeds. Then we changed to soy, he was a little better, but not great. We then tried Neocate forumla, which is one that you can use for cow's milk protein intolerance. Within a couple of days we saw a significant change in feeds. Now, three weeks later a have a very happy and content little boy. So if things don't work out ask your pead for a script for Neocate, it was a God send for us. If you get the script you can then get the formula on the PBS scheme, and it is then very affordable. Good Luck.
