I often come on here and read the threads but don't always reply, as lady suggested in another thread that i reply ed to she hasn't seen me on here for a while.
There are so many posts on all the reflux threads about avoiding medication and I choose not to medicate etc, but in some cases and I'm not saying all but in some there is a NEED for medication and medical intervention and its not a bad thing yes we all hate giving our babies medication but if there is a choice between medication and and my a child screaming there heads of whilst there stomach acid (which is as Strong as battery acid) is burning the lining of there oesophagus and throat and a larynx i know which one i would choose. Reflux is not just about a baby pukeing and as we all know it does hurt, it can also cause major problems and damage to the oesophagus, reflux can also be responsible for a FTT and development delays and feed refusal, chest infections and chronic lung disease due to continuous aspiration, it can also cause problems with the ears which in tern can affect there speech.
I'm not saying the every child that has reflux needs medication I just wanted to let people know that some times it is needed and we have no choice it doesn't mean you have failed or that your doing some thing wrong, its life reflux sucks so if there is something that you can give them to ease there pain and suffering it not always a bad option
My dd is on
losec and zantac and domperadone and she has also been on zoton and nexium and is 100 percent tube and has had anti reflux surgery and before i had my DD i was somewhat anti medical intervention but like i said we all as mums do the best we can for our babies
Reflux isn't just something all babies do it can be a serious illness and can cause life long complications
Hugs to all reflux mums yes its hard and it sucks, we all do our bests as mums its all we can do
