    Another great book!

I am still reading it but had to say how fantastic "Helping your baby to sleep" by Anni Gethin and Beth Macgegor is!

I really wish I would have read this before DS was born and got DH to read it as well!

It has given me so much reassurance in my parenting and doesn't make me feel like a failure when i lead with my heart!

I will have to read it again as I don't think my baby brain has taken the whole thing in!

Has anyone else read it? What did you think?

    x

    DITTO!

This book arrived in my life at just the right time, when mothers group and others were getting in my ear and making me doubt my natural instincts as a mum. DH loved it too!

I have my own personal issues with abandonment by my mother etc.... and sometimes thought that my own hangups and stubborness were influencing my decisions in a bad way, but this book taught me there was some basis to my feelings and it wasn't just me being neurotic and projecting my own problems on my daughter.

I have loaned it to a friend and have often missed being able to refer to it for help &/or a bit of reassurance!

I will also take this opportunity in this thread to gloat a little - at 14 months my DD has all of a sudden learnt to put herself to sleep without a single tear or stress! It is only night 7, so it could be temporary, but we are soooo proud of her - it just happened, so naturally and so beautifully, she just let us know she was ready and now after a few minutes cuddling in her room we put her down awake, she rolls over to cuddle teddy and its lights out without a peep (I think maybe my instinct to introduce a pillow may have helped...?)

We have put in 14 months of at times VERY hard slog and lots of time-consuming cuddles, drives, pram walks, co-sleeping (actually she still ends up in our bed most nights!), but its all worth it to see her learn a very hard skill in her own time.

I cannot praise these authors enough
