I totally understand what you are going through.

I currently have a similar problem. My boy will not go to sleep during the day at the moment and only settles for a max. of 30 mins. Then he will wake and start screaming. He either wants to be fed, held or be around me and hear me constantly. He can't seem to bear the thought that he might be missing out on something. Oh and to top all this off he is feeding every 2 hours without fail, so I no sooner settle him and he is awake regardless because he wants to eat. He has been like this for over a week now. Thankfully he sleeps for a good 6 hours during the night before waking up for a feed but this is only after both my husband and I spend 3-4 hours when he gets home trying to stop the crying and settle him as he gets worse around the 5-9 pm mark. I'm trying everything, baths, swaddle, reading, holding, burping, bouncing, stroking, singing, walking, feeding, nappy changing nothing really does the trick and in the end shear exhaustion seems to do the trick. We also don't have any friends or family living in the country. I can't wait for my first time mothers group to begin so that I can make some friends and get a support network close by.

I feel for you as one sufferer to another. I know that the tiredness gets you down. I've found myself saying and thinking unforgivable thoughts (like I wish I didn't have you) about my beautiful boy that I know I don't mean the moment I look at his sweet little face and see how much he needs me.

I'm so looking forward to the moment everyone is talking about when it supposedly gets easier. BRING IT ON!

P.S.: So far today he woke at 6am fed, nappied, played, put down for a sleep. Read 2 chapters of a book fell asleep for 30 mins. Woke screaming, fed again, nappied again stroked to sleep. Got talking book going and got in the shower finally at 11.15am when I thought finally he's down. Got out of the bathroom 11.45am and I could hear him going ballistic over the monitor. I've given up trying to get him to bed today, I've fed him again and put him under his activity centre for a play whilst I write this and go and make some lunch if I'm lucky.
