Well it has been 12mths now since we have been TTC#2. AF hasn't arrived yet but my temp took a dive this morning, so I am certain I am out. So next cycle will be #13. I have been brave for the past 12mths, but when I saw the temp this morning, for the first time, I got tears. It hit me hard. I am not angry, just sad and want to know why. Why did DD only take 4 cycles to conceive and #2 is proving so difficult.
For those that don's know, I did have a BT 3mths ago to check that I am ovulating and to also check certain hormones, thyroid etc and all was perfect. I also had a pelvic scan which showed everything to be normal.
I am thinking I will make an appointment with my Obstetrician (the one I had during DD's pregnancy) but I have heard it may be a bit of a wait, so I was thinking maybe seeing a naturopath aswell.....
Can someone please give me some advice as to whether this is the right thing to do. And can anyone recommend a Naturopath in Sydney?
how frustrating it must be for you did you DH get checked just in case just wondering
But Ild recommend acupuncture there are one who specialise in fertility check them out and see what they say My friend husband runs his own clinic and works with people trying to conceive and has a high success rate.
Good luck TTC and hope it all goes well for you I had trouble conceiving this baby took months and it got me down but I got their finally so sending you on some sticky baby vibes
nadine, i too would suggest getting the ball rolling toward seeing an FS. there are some things that GP's can help with (like clomid etc) - even if you're ovulating, it can add to your chances of success by helping the egg to mature.
i guess i'd recommend moving forward to looking at options as it's a long-ish wait for appointments - you can always cancel an appointment when you get a BFP - can't always get an appointment quickly if you need it...
NP and AP are good suggestions too - hoping that they ccan help you with a BFP very soon
I got the name of a goo acupuncture place so I will give them a go. They are meant to be quite successful in resolving fertility problems. Can't hurt to try. I also got the number off a naturopath.
My other friend has recommended an FS to me (her friend and she used him). Apparently he is well known (been on channel 9 etc). I haven't phoned yet but I will be in the next couple of days. Being so well known I am guessing he may have a long wait.... I guess I will find out.
Another question, how much does an FS charge? I know the price would vary as to what you are going through (procedures etc) but what does an initial consultation approximately cost?
Mine was about $160, I think from memory - but you get some of it back on medicare (about 90-100ish).
Also you need to get a joint referral from your GP. That's how we found our FS.
nadine - our first FS appointment was around $160 - got about half of that pack. each subsequent appointment has been between $70 and $80 and get around $32 back from medicare (maybe a little less) - until you hit the safety net.
you'll possibly find that, even though your GP has done some testing, the FS will put you through a whole lot more testing - DH and I walked out with pathology request forms absolutely chockers with test requests - not sure if all FS' do it, but mine wrote on it that it was to be bulk billed. the only one we had to pay for was one that had to be sent to, i think, the royal children's hospital as it was a specialised test to see if my immune system was attacking and killing DH's little swimmers.
as tarkine said, you'll need a referral from a medico for your FS - if your OB/GYN writes it, it will last only three months - if your GP writes it, they can write a 12 month or "indefinite" referral. most will limit it to 12 months, but after they've had to write more than one, they might change that to indefinite.
Nadine - all the best sweetie. Apparently after another year of TTC naturally I think that you have a major chance of conceiving. Sounds like there's nothing majorly wrong at all, but perhaps a natural therapist could help?
I got an email from my friend who recommended the FS and she said he charges about $150 for the initial consultation, so about the same as what you girls have told me.
It says next to his name: Reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist. (he works for IVF australia) anyway I am guessing that is the same as an FS.
emstar- Not sure of the name (yet to get the actual name from SIL). But I know it is in dural though. Did you want me to let you know what it is called?
NAdine, ive been lurking and so sure you would post a preg announcement soon. Have you tested yet ?? You know what they say, it aint over till AF arrives......
Aww thankyou mbear I am hoping it will be soon too. No I haven't tested yet. AF isn't here yet but I was sure she would arrive today. Tomorrow is test day if she hasn't come.
Nadine - Ive been keeping you in my thoughts too. I hope to see your positive news very sooon... I know how much you want it.
Love to you and Kayla from me and Allegra xx
I don't know if you said but has your partner had sperm analysis. It took us over year to conceive Ash and the prob ended up being low sperm count cause of inflamtion.
Sweetie I just wanted to say I'm thinking of you xxx
I understand your frustration and I know its just painful xxx
Definately call and make the appointment with the FS - Like BG said, its easy to cancel if you get a BFP
I would get in to see the naturopath as well - acupuncture is wonderful.. and it can definately only help.
If you need any advice on anything else, just PM me - God knows I can answer all of your questions!!!
Can also help if you need any further FS's, etc xxx
Aww you are all so sweet. Thankyou xxxx (now I have tears again, damn you girls hahaha.)
And AF did arrive yesterday right on cue.
shell and mbear- No he hasn't had his swimmers checked yet, but that is the next thing on the list now that it has been a year.
I have FINALLY decided (after thinking a long time about what to do) to go and see my obstetrician/gyno and have a chat with him. He can do all the necassary tests, and I trust him to refer us to someone good. The FS my friend gave me is very good, but he is about 40-50min away from here, so it would be good to have somewhere a bit closer. Anyway, I will call him today and make an appointment.
Thankyou so much again everyone. It really helps having the support. And those of you also TTC, keep your chins up. It WILL happen for you too xxx
