28 day cycle but ovulating day 19 - normal?

I'm new to BB so sorry if this has been raised before!

I've been TTC for 3 months and have been off the pill for 3 months too. I hadn't noticed EWCM until today (very excited that my girls are finally showing me some real signs!) but it's day 19 and my cycles are actually regular - 28 days with 2 days of spotting before AF's 'full' arrival (I don't count the spotting in my 28 days). Is this 'normal'?

I thought I'd ovulated over the weekend as I had a few cramps and was wetter (sorry for TMI!) but today was definitely EW. We took advantage of the situation so hopefully we'll get a BFP soon.

    Any advice would be great!

I don't really think there is any such thing as "normal". That's why I tend to recommend getting an ovulation kit if you have tried for a while, as so many women are outside the so called "normal range" (hate those words).
I hope that you are right about ovulating today and will have your BFP in a few weeks

if you luteal phase (O to AF) is less than 10 days, it is deemed too short to be successful in holding a pregnancy. i would suggest tracking ovulation signs using a program like fertility friend, or with OPK's for a couple of months, and if O is late each cycle and your luteal phase is short go and speak to your Gp about your concerns

in a "normal" healthy couple, it's not unusual to take up to 12 months to conceive, so you may find you get resistance from your GP if you go in sooner - hence me suggesting you track your cycles and go in armed with "evidence" that your luteal phase is not long enough to help you in conceiving

Hmm, good point, 'normal' isn't really relevant when it comes to our reproductive systems!

I've read up on short luetal phases and yeah, that's a bit frightening! I'm not overly worried yet but I just don't fancy stuffing around for months only to be told I need some tests, etc so I'll definitely bring it up with GP on Monday. I've been keeping notes on a few things (have taken a couple of temps too but I'm not consistent) so I should have enough amo to warrant some further investigation. My history of endo should help (hmm, doens't sound quite right!) as there was always the concern that I may have difficulties conceiving.

Midnightsun - thanks, I hope so too! Which OPK do you recommend?

Thanks for the advice and info!

I know this thread has been 'dead' awhile but just saw it and was wondering what your dr said, Taurean. I have had pretty irregular cycles in the past, but lately have been 28-30 days with O at day 20. My dr did bloods to confirm O, but didn't seem at all concerned about the short luteal phase (I didn't know about the 10 day thing until I read it here). So, I was wondering what your dr said as it would be useful for me too.
I also have a history of endo, but this didn't seem to push dr into doing anything early- he said the 12month mark is when I should look for a referral to a fs, but is happy to test dh so we are armed with any info we need to get the ball rolling quickly after 12 months.

Beatrix - so glad to hear of your success - there is hope!
JLeigh - how funny, our 'personals' are almost identical! My GP didn't have much to say about my suspected short leutal phase - she actually just smiled at me and congratulated me on my "research" but suggested I just sit back and enjoy the ride and try not to analyse things too much just yet. She said my endo seems good (last gyno suspected it had begun to reverse - I'm still concerned about the damage caused in my teenage years though!) and I should see her in 6-9 months if we'd had no luck.

I feel really good and my endo has definitely subsided but I'll definitely be going back to my doc in 6 months if we haven't go the BFP by then.

Beatrix - thanks for sharing your story!
Taurean - I think you are me! I am also a Taurus and our dr's seem to have told us the same thing. Hopefully we'll both get our BFP's soon! Good luck!

Hi there Taurean, I have a short luteal phase as well but have discovered the benefits of vitamin B6. I take 100mg in the morning and my LP has gone from 8 - 9 days to about 12. Might be something to give a shot seeing your GP has been so uninterested so far. Best of luck in your ttc journey hun, may it be short and sticky

Hi, I have 4 children all but 1 concieved in short luteal phases.. Can also say I have had 6 MC's and bleeding during pregancy, would also recommend that you track your cycles so if you do need to see a FS you have lots of info.. Good luck.

Taurean - congrats! That's a huge hurdle just knowing that you are Oing. I think I am Oing today or tomorrow (cd19 or 20). I am in the 6mths+ thread when you have good news to share! I might lurk in the 1-6mth thread too

    Hi Kellz!

It is reassuring to hear from other endo sufferers who have conceived already. Thanks for that

Yeah, I was pretty excited about finally confirming the big O. I used Clear Blue Digital. Quite pricey but really good and it so nice to see a positive smiley face than just a line on a strip! In saying that, I did use cheap (pee in a cup!) OPK's though until day 14 which means I only used 2 of my 7 digital strips. I've found out they don't make refills and at $55 a pop (for 7 tests) you don't want to be wasting them. Hopefully we'll get a BFP this cycle but if not, I've still got 5 smiley face tests left

There's a new product available in Australia called the OV Watch that I saw on ebay.

It's a watch you wear when you sleep that predicts your most fertile time each month.

Here are some success stories that I found also.

    Check it out

I am a really skeptical person. I always think that when something seems to good to be true it must be, but in the case of the OV Watch, I was wrong. When my husband and I decided to try for our first child we got pregnant the first month we tried so we figured with the second it would be that easy. Our daughter is now 3 1/2, and we have been trying for one year. After only one month of using the OV Watch, I am pregnant with our second child. I can't believe it. The OV Watch is truly the best investment I've ever made. It seems like a lot of money, but it is worth every penny! I'm going to recommend it to everyone I know that is struggling to conceive. I can't thank you enough!

We tried for 5 years to get pregnant and had no luck. We ordered the OV Watch and were pregnant after the first month. My daughter truly was a miracle. My father was diagnosed with terminal cancer in November of 2005 and wanted to be a grandfather more than anything. We conceived the next month! He spent 3 amazing months with her and I can not praise the OV-Watch enough for giving us both the gift of this amazing little girl. We are going to try for another child soon and I will definately have my OV-Watch working!

We are thrilled! My husband and I decided it was time to start our family. One night we were watching the news and several women were discussing their successes in becoming pregnant through the use of the OV Watch. So, we decided we should give it a try. Sure enough, after two months of wearing the watch we became pregnant. We were shocked that pregnancy happened so fast (I'm 34 and my cycle is ever changing). The watch was simple to use, and much easier than several other methods that friends have tried. I have since recommended the OV Watch a dozen times and have become a walking bill board for this product. Please try this product, you will not regret it!
