Smile TTC while BF and after C/S

Hoping someone can help me out.

My daughter is 10 weeks old and my partner and I would like to start trying in a couple of weeks for #2.

Not sure when we are able to start however because of the two following things:

    1. I had a caesarian and everything went very well with me, no problems at all. (DTD no prob. sorry TMI).

    2. I am breastfeeding 'well, expressing full time as my baby is unable to breastfeed'.

Please let me know how soon you have concieved after a CS and if you have concieved whilst BF.

    Thanks!

    Hi there

    1. I dont know about TTC and c/s - ive never had one, so cant help you there.

    2. The chance of falling pregnant whilst exclusively breastfeeding is exteremely low, esp in the first 6 months of babies life. Although this is a very generalised comment, and believe it or not some women have proved it wrong.

I fell pregnant when DD#2 was 9 months of age. She was having about 4-5 breastfeeds a day. I had not had AF post partum.......so fell pregnant before my first AF.

    Good luck.

I guess it depends if you want to try a natural birth or just have another caesar. The chance of something going wrong with a VBAC is higher in the first 2 yrs after a caesar and if you manage to fall pg soon the chance of a problem would be pretty high.

As for bf'ing it really does depend on how fertile you are. As bub is (hopefully) feeding so much the chance of you falling pg is pretty low (it has been known to happen tho, as pp said) and then there's the risk that your bf'ing so m/c is more likely.

    Cheers,

    Beck

Hmm, another pregnancy so soon after your c-section might put a bit of strain on the scar - you want to make absolutely certain that it is healed enough, I would suggest talking to your doc/OB about how long that would be. You don't want to risk a uterine rupture.

Bfeeding has a significant impact on fertility for most women so it might even be a while before you ovulate.
