Well we had my DH tested a couple of times. Once through QML & once through the fertility specialist. The one through QML was bulk billed but the one through the FS cost $150 I think from memory. I'm not sure what the equivalent of QML is in WA though. It's really easy. Your GP/FS will give you a referral. Then your DH has to get some swimmers in a sample cup. Then you take it in and they count them. You have to make an appt to drop the sample off and there is a time limit (1/2 hour I think) on how long you can take to get it there because they have to test it fresh. My DH made me drop it off because he was too embarrassed It might be more difficult if you live a long way from a collection centre. Also your DH has to abstain from ejaculating for 3 days prior but no more than 5 days to get the ideal specimen. I might be a little out on my numbers as it has been a couple years since DH had his tested.

Personally, I would rather know if there's a problem with the man early so you don't have to go through months & months of trying & failing & wondering what's wrong when it's not your fault at all. And for men, it's nothing but pleasure. No poking no prodding, no needles, no strange men or women looking at your bits or inserting strange contraptions in your private parts. Much easier to test the man first then if he's all clear, you can face all that crap.
