You're not being silly at all! TTC is so, so frustrating. But you know what, people who fall within the first six months are actually in the minority. It can take healthy couples up to 12 months to conceive. Doctors say this for a reason - because it's based on stats. It was over 12 for us.
Long cycles are a pain, I hear ya there too. There are some basic tests you can ask for through your GP e.g. hormone levels, pelvic ultrasound to check ovulation and any structural issues etc. Plus a swimmer test for your guy. We did this at about the six-month mark, kept trying au naturale up to 12 and then saw a fertility specialist.
I used to hate it when people said "just hang in there/be patient", so I won't say that to you. Definitely talk to your GP about your concerns if you're ready to do some investigating. Could rule out something simple or give you an idea of where to go next.
Good luck, hope you get that beautiful BFP very soon x
