Astrid, I completely agree with your point about my FP being a jack of all trades, master of none. Yes, it chops, but not particularly well. Yes, it makes cake batter, but only if it's quite a runny batter. It kinda annoys me, cause I don't need it for whipping cream, I have a hand mixer for that. I'll look into the kitche aid thing. Thanks!
Wouldloveabubba, that would be so nice of you if you could ask them for me.

Yeah, looking at what you want to do a stand mixer seems the most appropriate, whether it be a Kitchenaid or another brand. The KA, as said above by Christy, has optional accessories, so you can grate, slice, mince, make sausages whatever. There is a KA thread somewhere, I hope it has not gone in a cull. If you have pay tv they sometimes demo them on TVSN.

ETA: here is the thread http://forums.bellybelly.com.au/foru...tchen-aid.html. Hopefully we can convert you

Astrid, that thread is evil!!! I want one, too now.
My dilemma: I have very limited bench space. And knowing how lazy I can be, when it comes to pulling out my food processor, i don't know whether I will use the kitchen aid all that often... So, is it really worth it for me, then...
And my rational self tells me that there are so many other things on my list that should come before that... But it's so pretty...
    As I said, you're evil!

Pizza dough - the Magimix goes a dream..

I have a Magimix but would also be happy with the Kitchen Aid.

I believe from my recent research - the Magimix is the strongest on the market - they have 3 sizes in bowls and motors.

Ms Pink, What model Magimix do you have? I just looked at some videos on their website and it looks great. The only thing I reallly need it for is mixing and blending. And I don't think the Kitchenaid does blending. Or does it? So I'm intrigued buy the Magimix. Do you bake cakes with it? And bread? I guess the main concern for me is the power. When you make pizza or bread dough, can you knead it in the machine after the first rise? Or do you do that by hand?

Limeslice, I have a Kenwood Food processor. It does not have enough power IRL, although the specs made me believe that it does. It just smells like burnt plastic as soon as something a little stiffer is in the bowl. What model Kenwood are you referring to? are you talking about a mixer or a food processor?
