This round was the first round she introduced videos for the daily workouts, so theoretically you should be fine without the additional purchase of DVD's etc. Helpful if you have a large computer screen or perhaps apple TV. But, it doesn't hurt to change it up a bit or vary it so if you have a bit of money to splash one of the three sets is worth $30, not sure about the newer set (think they are called the project dvd's).
You could buy the books if you see them cheap - they just offer a few different meals with the same calorie distributions but it means you have more variety if you want to continue this way of eating later on (without the program). We juggle our own menu per our budget and family eating fussiness so the books come in handy for some different meals.
HRM is not essential - but the goal is 1200 in 500 out so if you want to know exactly what you are achieving and if you need to push harder I would definitely recommend investing in one. Some people find they focus too much on the numbers, some people it really drives and motivates them to push harder. I love mine.
A step, mat, hand weights, possibly even a bar bell wouldn't hurt - but i dont do the at home program so maybe wait and see what you think you would find useful. A skipping rope is a good idea as it gets the heart rate up. Get some music on your phone or i-device, a tabata app to mix it up a bit, myfitnesspal - start using it now, to see how mcuh you ARE eating even if you dont adjust now, and a mapmyrun or runkeeper type app for outdoor walks etc. couch25km if it interests you.
A pair of digital kitchen scales is a MUST.
A popcorn machine (i dont have one, but many people use them) for healthy airpopped popcorn as a "naughty" healthy snack alternative.
A good sports bra.
Good runner or cross trainer shoes (unless mainly running CROSS TRAINERS are the more appropriate as they have better support for the action you use).
Comfortable active gear - bigW sell the Mish brand.
Lots of freezer containers for pre-preparing meals or sandwich seal bags for the things that can be snap frozen.
