I'm keen to join as well. I've sort of started going to the gym and this will give me some motivation to continue. I need to get fit and lose a bit for skiing later in the year. I will e-mail my measurements later tonight or in the morning.

melkate... My friend trains the Rabbitohs in Sydney and said...

"Need to get your heart rate UP UP UP for 30min a day" Not just walking.. If you are going for a walk.. run 30 seconds walk 30 seconds.. etc..

And DRINK PLENTY OF WATER 8 glass's a day OR MORE, if you are working out HARD!

Depends if you want fitness or weightloss.

If you want weightloss you need to keep your heartrate low enough that your body is still burning fats. Once you raise it when running etc, you begin to burn glycogen and carbs therefore not burning fats.

I can't remember the exact % of max heartrate but i am pretty sure that it needs to be
    below 65% to burn fat
below 80% for fitness (aerobic exercise)
then 80-90% is to improve your anaerobic system (<1k races)
90-95% is for ATP system (sprints)
& to work out max HR is 220-your age

All I know is that he works for FIA (fitness institute Australia)

You need muscle to burn calories, the more muscle you have the more calories you burn while doing nothing.. sitting etc.

So you want fitness and weightloss,

So by doing a total body workout which is,

    Warm Up
    Cadio
    Strength training
    Cool Down
    Stretching

Either way you want to be stronger, fitter and leaner.. Which is getting your heart pumping to burn calories.

Don't forget that you need to have your first lot of results to me by tomorrow night to be added to the thread on Wednesday (but I wont be online till late Wednesday, so if a few of you are late it's ok ) I can't wait to see how well you have all done so far! And don't worry about the weight - put the scales away and only bring them out once each week. Some of you may not notice a huge difference on the scales, but your measurements will still be vitally important. Also your weight will fluctuate a little each week depending on where you are in your cycle and how much fluid you retain etc.

Big congrats Laranna! And in advance for Ali!

Hoping my ridiculously good eating will have paid off this week (despite going to a baby shower with chocolate galore and cherry ripe cheese cake I was sooo good) because I have been striken with a naaaaasty flu and haven't been able to excercise. Getting out of bed or breastfeeding is challenging enough. Maybe will have lost a couple of hundred grams in snot though. (Aren't I gross)

Aaaah, well, I feel good so hoping to see SOME results.

Aw thanks cookie I don't know if I'll be able to keep the secret for that long. Although, it would be very cool to announce it to everybody at the wedding. We may just tell our families first and then everyone else at the wedding.

That's a great idea about the eating It made me think that we should all eat as if we are pregnant then we will avoid the naughty stuff

Morning ladies YAY our first 'weight in' so to speak I've gotta say that I had a pretty dismal weight loss and cm loss BUT on the BCM I have lost fat, gained muscle (which is heavier) and I had a fair bit more fluid than usual so all in all I'm pretty happy. Good luck everyone, can't wait to see who this weeks winner is

The results are in!!! I have updated the first post with all your results for this week. I decided to drop the amount lost from each week and only post the percentage and centimeters lost and just do a total loss at the end so that you don't feel disheartened by what you do or don't lose each week as some of you may not have lost any %, but you lost cm's, so I think that's a better way to show the results over the course of the challenge.

But either way we have all done awesomely!!!! Well done to all of us and I think we all deserve a pat on the back for our efforts!

I will also put in my signature the weekly challenge so if you don't see it in here, you will see it about the place in my sig. Now you don't have to do this, at all, but it's just something to keep you motivated and a direction to focus on for the week.

So this week's challenge will be to take your favourite recipe and make it low fat, or as low fat as you can get it! Have fun experimenting in the kitchen with your fave dish and make it into something you have still enjoy, not something you have to cut out.

PS, I have also cleared my inbox for pms LOL. Sorry about that!
