Mitch - it's an eye opener when you start writing a food diary! You can really see how much food you are putting in to yourself. Keep up the good work with your exercising!

I'm at the gym now peddling away on a bike. My gosh there's a lot a stinky people in here!!! Guess that's what you get when in 35+ outside..

Hey girls I am joining here too if that's ok! God the first week of WW is hard. Forgot how hard it is going from eating whatever you want whenever you want, to watching everything.

I am starving all the time, and today I have a crappy day with the kids and just ate chocolate. Arrgghhh. I also have forgotten what are good choices to make and have made some shockers thinking I was doing the right thing.

Exercise is my trouble spot too - I find it so hard to get in, have done one day of the C25K and that's it although I did download the Jillian Michaels dvd yesterday and did 20 mins of it (that's all I could do and SO sore today) and then did yoga last night and 25 mins today.
I really need to stock up on some good snack stuff and things like Jarrah chocolattes and diet mousse so I don't break out the Cadbury when I need my kids in bed sweet fix.

oooh I'm going to join in here too if that's cool. I was in here a while ago and still need to lose the same 15kg

I've decided to re-join WW but this time I'm only going to the meetings. Last time I signed up for both meetings and online and when life got a little busy I just went on-line and then I started cheating. If I have to turn up to a meeting and get on the scales then I will follow the points. My only dilemma is whether to join tomorrow night or next week. I'm ambivalent about going tomorrow only because the MiL is staying atm to mind DS while CC is closed and I think I could do without the discussion that will ensue (she is a bit obsessed with her own weight and always brings it up with me - whether's she's lost or gained or is happy etc). Not long after I had DS she gave me an article about the Pram Diet. Maybe I was hormonal but it was hard not to be offended and defensive so I'm not sure I want to 'include' her by starting while she is here. It is all she will ask me about for the next 6 months and she will want all the details and to look at the booklets etc ........maybe I will just use this next week to be as disciplined as possible so next week is not so bad?

Welcome Tan & Kaz!!! So nice of you to join us Looks like we have a nice group starting up here. I hope that we can keep this thread alive and motivate each other to reach those goals that we want!!

Tan - The first week or so is real hard when you cut back on your eating but your body will get used to it fairly quickly. I not sure of any of the WW food but is there anything that you can munch on that is relatively low in points to help you get through the hungry stages?? I'll have a tin of tuna or a couple of rice cakes, vita-weat etc if I get a bit peckish. Exercise is sometimes hard, but start off easy and you will start to enjoy it and it will get easier and more fun!

Kaz - If you think the MIL is not going to help with your weight loss journey then wait until she is gone!! The last thing that you need is someone to be bringing you down and getting you off trach (I'm an emotional eater so I know how much it can effect you). You want to be 100% focused on your goal, especially when you start the diet. The first few weeks are the most important!! So use the next week to slowly cut down all the bad things out of your diet BUT you have to make sure that you do join and not keep just putting it off!!

    Welcome Tan and Kaz

Tan - I have found that having some snacks pre-prepared and easy stuff on hand is key as well as not having 'bad' stuff in the house. Also things like nuts and dried fruit which are healthy really need to be measured out so that you don't overeat. I am finding that I am stressed by the flood situation and have eaten a bit too much chocolate today!

Kaz - Def wait til MIL is gone, you don't need that extra pressure on yourself. If she isn't going to be 100% positive and supportive she doesn't need to know. If you've already done weight watchers before you probably already know what to/not to eat and the right portion sizes.

Hi Tan and Kaz! Kaz, I would definitely not mention WW to the MIL! Sounds like you would just be giving her an excuse to hassle you about your weight. As much as I want to lose weight, I want to do it for ME and if someone else started weighing in (haha...) with their own opinion about my body... well, I would be very unhappy!

Fuzzy, you have every right to consume chocolate in a crisis situation! How close to the floods are you?

I am failing miserably on the exercise front this week. The weather here has made it really difficult to get out and about and I can't get to the gym because the creche doesn't take school aged kids. By the time DH gets home I am over it and find a reason not to go (I'm much more motivated in the morning!). It has been a pretty hard week with DD who is only 7 weeks. Anyway, so far not so great!

Diet wise, I have not been too bad... sort of! Apart from the beer a couple of days ago... I did make homemade sausage rolls with the kids today and I ate three of those (party sized) but they are chockers with veggies. And fatty sausage mince and pastry!! Apart from that, all pretty good. One of the big things I have chnged in my diet is to replace Coke Zero with water. I usually drink maybe three or four cans a day, but now just iced water. Apparently diet soft drinks are one of those 'hidden' naughty things and cause weight gain.

I hope you ladies are all faring better than I am on the exercise front!!

Thanks ladies! I went and stocked up on a few things, mainly for my evening chocolate cravings so things like Bulla light choc icecreams, and jarrah chocolattes. I am kidding myself if I think I can cut it out altogether but this was I can still have things that relieve my need for chocolate stress relief. I know I shouldn't weigh in between weeks BUT I just jumped on my Wii and I have lost 1.2 kgs! I am rapt!!! I think what is helping more this time is that i am doing some sort of exercise every day, even if it is just my 20 mins of Yoga on my iphone at night. I did that Jillian DVD again yesterday and it's really great. It's called the 30 day shred, and has 3 levels of 20 mins workouts and man she doesn't let up. It's like being on Biggest loser with her saying, If you feel like stopping for a rest now.... TOO BAD keep going Classic I love it! Anyway knowing I have lost is increasing my motivation so I am off to go shopping with no kids now (braving the wet in Melbourne) then Jillian when I get home again!

Kaz - I agree with the other girls, don't mention it if you aren't going to get support. I find it hard too because DH is doing a NO carbs diet at the same time and if I crack out some food I feel like I have to justify it to him, and he is like, Tan - I don't CARE what you eat - you know what you have to do and if you are hungry eat, and that just makes it worse. Maybe you could secretly track yourself hun while she is there and see how you are going without getting all your stuff out? I did that for the first 3-4 days this time around, I still had my OS visitors here, and so I tracked everything I ate from chocolate to bbq shapes, coptious amounts of tequila you name it, just so I would firstly get in the habit of tracking and also to see what i was putting in my mouth! Maybe while MIL is there you could just track quietly and get yourself in that frame of mind and then jump in fully once she has left. xoxo

Nickle - I didn't know that about Coke- I love my Diet Coke, and with Xmas etc around here our house has been full of it and Sprite Zero. It's all gone now, I finished off the last of it yesterday and I definitely need to up my water consumption. I LOVE fizzy drinks though so for dinner I buy soda water and a diet cordial or a dash of juice in with it and feel like I am having something spesh!

Off to update my ticker I am so pleased! (Although I will probably only show a 100g loss at my Sunday weigh in now - oops!)

    Hello ladies!

I hope you are all travelling well

Just a quick one from me cause should be getting to work... I am doing good this week, back at the gym to usual workouts and got up 5 times for a jog in the morning so YAY! Muscles are a bit sore... Been weighing myself daily to see progress and its a bit up and down at the moment and hovering between 73-73.5kg. This mornings was 73kg so thats about 500g loss since Monday. Will measure again on Monday and see if any centimetres lost, I hope so! Doesn't feel like it tho.

I'm coming up to my hardest two weeks diet & exercise wise so I hope that the support of this thread will get me through it!! The next two weeks will be hard for me because Im heading in to my TWW and I tend to get really slack with exercise and eat a lot of crap because there is something that switches on in me and says to forget about the healthy lifestyle cause you could be pregnant and will get fat any way!! So I need to work on not letting myself slip. So please help me girls!!!

    ok here goes....

Hi Ladies - Thought i may join you if thats ok! My story is this:
I'm 30 years old and have just been diagnosed with 'assumed PCOS' my tests all came back fine (blood tests and ultrasound). The only 2 symptoms i have are annovulation (period maybe once every 6 months) thus no ovulation. I am also obese at 134kg. Wow - how shamefull and embarrassing! I know i certainly dont look anywhere near that but these are the figures the man inside the scales is telling me! So, i trundled off to the dietician, took her advise and have 5 kg to lose before 10 March 2011. Mini Goal #1!! I hope to find support - and give support - here if welcome!! I have a tough road ahead of me but am determind to have a 'mini us' brewing in 2011!! Wishing you much love and luck!

    Hi guys,

Just quickly popping in to update on my weigh in. 77.9kg which is a 200g gain. I'm not too worried because I've just gotten over being sick and now everything is back to normal I am ramping up the exercise starting today, an extra 40mins of cardio on top of my daily walk. Hope everyone else is travelling well

Fuzzywuzzy - you have done an awesome job! I would love to lose 17kg, you must feel fantastic! Aside from exercise what are you doing differently?

Ngala - you're so right about not putting it off forever! I didn't go to WW last week but am definitely there on Wednesday. In terms of motivating yourself to stay on track in your TWW, maybe think about being healthy for if there is a bub growing. Then, if there is your pg is off to a great start and if there isn't, you have stayed on track and hopefully lost more. I do hope this is your last TWW though

Nickle - don't be too hard on yourself for not exercising with a 7 week old! I had barely left the house when DS was 7 weeks old. It's ok to take it easy, you're still recovering from pg and birth! I have heard the same thing about soft drinks, diet or not. I love coke zero too and up until now have had the occasional can in DS's presence without a problem but yesterday he decided he wanted to try it and we always eat together/share our food if he asks to try it so I couldn't say no. Will be making the coke zero's an evening thing if I need something sweet from now on (after he is in bed!) and will hopefully phase them out altogether. I only really get into soft drink in summer and that will be over here by end of March! lol.

Tanstar - yay for you! I noticed your 1.2kg ticker move in another thread. Well done.

JBM - good luck with the exercise. What do you do? I find it the hardest part of being healthy/loosing weight.

Kellijh - Welcome! I am sure you will get to your goal by 10 March. What kind of advice did you get from the dietician?

AFM - Well I ended up not joining WW last week. It was just too hectic with getting home from work late and DS had been with MiL all day and although he was fine I didn't want to rush off again within half an hour of getting home because he was already out of routine and she'd never minded him before. She is supportive. Well, she tries to be I think but she operates more on an information rather than an emotion level itms? I think the type of people we seek support from in losing weight is crucial. At least it is for me. In thinking about why I didn't want to tell MiL, I realised I need more emotional support and encouragement, rather than 20 questions about the method I am choosing and an hour long discussion of it's relative merits and drawbacks compared to other methods I have told my mum but she isn't living close by. I am thinking of telling my mum's group mates, a few of them anyway. Usually I keep my weight loss efforts to myself but usually I am not very successful or it doesn't last so maybe I need to do that part differently this time and tell a few people who will ask in a supportive way and help me stay on track.

Anyway, I did put it off and I haven't been that great in terms of eating this week but I have been itching to get there on Wed and get started! I did go for a walk yesterday and I also did hours of gardening, pulling out weeds and grass mainly. There is heaps to go to get our garden back to a decent shape from total jungle so that will be my main exercise for a while. It's only once or twice a week but better than nothing.

Hope you are all having a good start to the week!

Hello!!! Is it Monday already?! Gee it goes quick!

My weight this morning was... 72.6kg So that means I had a 900g loss since last week. I did all my measurements too and I am the same everywhere apart from waist where I had 1cm loss. Only little progress but its better than nothing!

JBM - Welcome!! I hope that your weightloss journey is a successful one and you get the hot bod that you want!

kellijh - Welcome to you too!! 5kg by March is do-able I think! YOu will need to be very strick on yourself but once you start getting used to it all, the weight will just be falling off. What advice did the dietician give you?

Fuzzy - That is good that you are feeling better. I hate being sick! Now you can get on the track and work on getting to your goal weight

Kaz - Oh that IS a good way to think about my TWW! Start eating healthy at the start and then I will be off to a great start - Thanks! I will try and think like that You definitely need people to support you and I think that should start in your very own home! Make sure that your OH understands that you need to do this and to do this you need to remove all the temptations out of your house! This works a treat for me because if its not there, then I wont be craving it!! You can treat yourself every so often but have to make sure you dont go overboard but I am sure that WW will have lots of yummy food and recipes for you. Gardening is a good exercise and definitely better than nothing! If you don't like the gym then there is heaps to do at home, like getting some exercise dvds and going for it in your own living room!

Today I have already been for a jog, did an hours session with my trainer at the gym (made me sweat big time!) and soon I am going to give my house a real good clean. I think I might even treat myself with a yummy cake/muffin when I go do the food shopping. Hmm but if I start now, I might not be able to stop!

    hi all!!

Thank you for your replies. The dietician gave me advise on substituting certain foods for other things. She also reccommended alot of LOW GI items to me - apparently that is good for PCOS treatment. I'm feeling really good after a week of it so look forward to continuing on!!

Mitch - congrats on the loss - thats great news!

I'm thinking of going to buy some scales but certainly wont be weighing myself every week - perhaps once a fortnight! I dont want to get all depressed if theres no downward movement in a week so best not to watch and just keep plugging away.

    I hope your all well.

Is anyone else here TTC? We are about to start on the IVF/ICSI journey - other options werent really suitable and we dont want to wast much time! Just wondering about your stories and experiences.

    Much love!

    K
