Firstly I did not read all the responses ... but I just wanted to add .... YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

I boredom eat too ... especially at night when DH is not home. And it does not have to be sweet, I'll just make myself some 2 min noodles, toast, cheese off the block

I'm going to talk to my GP about prescribing me something to curb my hunger/lust for food and me and DH is starting Muay Thai next month (so excited) So I hopefull will get down the 12kg's I actually need before my birthday in Des.

    Goodluck with everything

    PS.

evening that is constructive to entertain myself.
Make cloth diapers ... it's my new addiction ... it's fun and keeps those hands busy and food free (can't sew with peanutbutter and honey fingers )

    ok some tips here

1st i am big myself and i need to lose about 45kg so i hear ya loud and clear
the tips that i have found usefull in losing weight are

drink water 8-10 glasses of water everyday yes you will go to the loo alot at 1st but your body will get used to it

do not eat after dinner as anything that you eat after dinner the body will store as fat

exercise at least 30 mins daily with one day a week to rest that gives your body a chance to have a break oh and build e 30 mins up to about 45mins or more if you want to

walking is the best weight loss tool much better than running

watch what you eat you will need to adjust what you eat cut down your high fatty sugar foods and replace them with more fruits and veges

    everything in modertion excersie included

well i hope that helps someone

Thanks so much for all your replies.
I have taken many of your points on board.

I have been having a hot choc every noght which i think is contributing to the problem... I mug of skim milk plus ovaltine is a big wack of kj... i will have a look at something else to replace this as i think this really is where the weight is coming from (and the snacking that goes with it)
I have not bought any biscuits or lollies for a while now - DH keeps coming home iwth them though, its hard for him though as he has an extremly physical job and an incredoibly fast metabolism, so needs to continually eat to keep weight on wish that was my problem!!!

I also made a massive fruit salad yesterday, so will have a bowl of that if temptation arises.
Have tried to keep busier in the evenings too.

I also have noted that the days that the temptation ios the strongest is also the ones that i am exceptionally tired - maybe i want to snack to stay awake (sugar kick for energy) when really i should just head off to bed early. Will also try this me thinks

Good points about the hungry vs bored snacks - i am totally NOT creative and everything i try just turns to poo - knitting is a disaster and yeah, would love to try MCN's but dont want to waste more money on material that will never really get used as i will give up after it wont work (thats sounds really really negative, but i am one of those types that is just not good at creative stuff)

Thanks again everyone, it so nice to know that i am not alone!

Thats great! Do you also find when not eating so much crap you don't crave it as much? Thats how I feel. I've told Df no junk unless its chips cause then I won't crave it. If I have chocolate or biscuits around, forget it I'll eat it. A good idea my sister suggested is to buy like those 2 fruits, so its like a nice treat but they're quite healthy. I been having that after dinner instead snacking on crap.
And I love my wii fit! been getting exercise done.

that is a great start that you walk the dog for an hour 3 times a week keep that up and even add a day if you want to and you should start seeing results.
