Lucy - that is a great loss!! Big WOOHOO for you

Kaz - I know the feeling! Avaleigh was horrible this morning when I wanted to go swimming. She is down for a nap now so I should get outside for a swim but I already washed my hair today.

I managed to do the week 1 of the 8 minutes in the mornings today. I know you arent meant to do it all in one day but I thought I would give it a go and some bits are quite difficult.. like when you need to hold your leg up for 30 seconds!

Hang in there Gracie.. It took me quite a while to get serious about the 'wagon' when I first started after the birth of DD. Its a total mind frame that you need to change. I still eat a little bit of junk, but all the good stuff out weigh the bad stuff. Hang in there and get back on the wagon!! Just take little steps. Sit down and think about what you eat, especially what bad stuff you eat and then maybe slowly cut down on that until its totally out of your diet?..

Gracie, just hop back on sweets!

I was chatting to a friend of mine today (a male friend who has lost nearly 80kg and kept it off!!! He is a legend.) He stressed that "If you fall off the wagon, don;t stress, just hop back on the next day and don;t beat yourself up."

He was telling me how, after a whole year of fairly rigid dieting, he cracked and shovelled a massive amount of KFC. He said he felt like an alcoholic who had been sober for a year then had got drunk. But then he just got back onto his plan the next day and removed the guilt from his memory.

Schaz Buggar about your DH going away for awhile. But at least you have this to keep you motivated. How long is he going for? He will certainly notice the difference in you!!
don't know how long he'll be gone, maybe until 28th Jan, maybe longer, I do know he'll be in Sydney for the whole of March. But that is the nature of the entertainment industry and I grew up around the film industry so I'm used to members of the family disappearing for months on end.

He BETTER notice the difference!!!!!!!!!!! Or else he is sleeping on the couch!

WTG Lucy!!! Cool on the free hire too.

Schaz, that's a bit rough, but I totally agree with you on the eating what you want thing and it being easier. I am dreading my DH coming home. He's an eater becasue he thinks he's starving - he weighs 120kgs - he is NOT starving. He does not need as much food as he thinks he requires...

    Gracie, hang in there hun.

I was going to go to RPM tomorrow, but it's supposed to be a reasonably cool day and I'd rather take Darcy for a big walk to the park and play with the ball I think. Not quite as many calories but bettr for hor and better for my frame of mind.

    Keep up the work all!

Schaz - hehe yeeehawww, don't threaten the sofa!!!

Didn't get out for my walk today (have been trying for 10,000 steps / day) due to a certain screaming man. df is currently out taking the lab for a walk, he's complaining that he never takes the dog for a walk any more!Ahhh well.

Gracie - wagon, shcmagon. I'm off it with the eating TBH but on it with the exercise for the most part. Just keep going and working up to it!

Lucy - great advice there from your friend! And woohoo on the free hire!

Oh pmsl Kim that is too funny! He is gonna notice a huge change in you too when he gets back!

Kaz You sound exactly like me. I am going great with the exercise but I have a few bad days a week. But I just keep telling myself that less then 6 months ago I was eating out everyday at some point... so it has to be better then that. I am also taking the healthy options when out as well.

So how is everyone going with the challenge? I still need to do my push ups and sit ups today! I have been trying to do them first thing in the morning. I am actually really looking forward to the first weigh in! I can't wait to see how well everyone has done! And I can't wait to see how many CM's I have lost as well! Especially as I lost none off my thighs last time and I have been working them hard lately

I feel bad because the first time EVER I've comfort eaten - DH has basically said they want him in Sydney until the end of March, but he is trying to negotiate 3-4 days off in a row a fortnight so he can come home, or if it is only 2 days over a weekend I can fly to Sydney. So after he told me this, I comfort ate. This is the first time he's gone away for work that I've felt this way. I may be flying down for the aussie day long weekend, he has saturday and part of monday off.

But tomorrow is another day, another day for me to get back on the horse and not beat myself up about eating junk tonight.

Schaz. That's yuk. Mine has been away since October 6. I have seen him for 5 days since then. You have my sympathy. BUT part of the challenge is to be aware of what you are eatinf when - so a small victory for you is that you are on top of it....not much consolation I know.

    YAY Christine!!

Am I the only woman on this thread who wouldn't mnid if her husband did go away for a long time???? Must be 'cos I am older and have no kids!! I find DH a bit of a kid sometimes.......

Has anyone seen the manflu videoclip - just type man flu into you tube and check out the one where the guy called the ambos.....

I went and did a bit of a shop at Coles today - rarely go there as I get most of my stuff at organic shops and my local IGA but somtimes I go to the big supermarket....and it takes me forever as I wander around looking at stuff.....

    Three things I noticed.

The amount of sugar in flavoured water. They aren't really sweet but they have a lot of sugar in them. I used to drink them occasionally but I think I will drink the real stuff instead.

I also love ginger - for the first time I looked at the calories - about 100 per serve and there are 6 serves per pack and I can eat a whole pack....oops....never thought about it before.

Freedom foods in the health isle now have this great 100 calorie concept. Breakfast bars, biscuits, cereal and other goodies - all 100 calories or less per serve and free from crappy preservatives and artificial stuff. I bought some of their spicy apple biscuits last week and liked them - have only had two as that was the 100 calories.

I like their concept as most food aimed at dieters is so heavily altered and artificial so I bought their breakfast bars as well and will see how they go.

I have a job interview tomorrow and so have stocked up with good stuff to take to the office. Need to go an earn money again. Been off for 4 months but it has flown as I have been so busy travelling and then organising the house....

Better go to bed......my cat is laying on the mouse, patting my arm and giving my 'come to bed' looks.....

    Lucky my husband is away.......

Lucy.......that was great advice from your friend - and 80 kilos, what an inspiration!! You should ask him for before and after shots and show us.

I wonder sometimes if men get over guilt easier than us women?

LOL, you read my mind! I nagged him about it yesterday. He says he has no before shots as he was terrified of the camera. But he is looking so gorgeous now. (I will continue to nag.....I have one snap of him from our wedding but it is head and shoulders only, that doesn't show his full size. )

I'll be honest, he was MASSIVE (scarily so.) And now........OMG........

DH is a big kid, he has ADD and I don't mind when he does go away (in fact I love it - I get a break from the bouncing energy ball), just that this time it was stressful up until he flew out and we didn't get any of the downtime and the "us" time (we usually cave for a few days before he goes, just to re-connect). Heck we were almost fighting on the way to the airport over trivial things that shouldn't bother us, but the last 3 weeks have been pure hell for us.
