Today I have made a vegie soup. Mainly for a snack as I need food I can eat in a hurry or else I'll be grabbing a cookie instead. I have also just come back from a 1km run. About 4-6weeks ago I could only run 200m without stopping so I am stoked. Its a real struggle but I can do it. I'm hoping to do it most days until it gets easier then I will start going a little further. It took me just under 7mins. I can't get the time to do the C25K with bub was right now I'm just concentrating on making that 1km easier to run
Yahoooo so many more fab motivated pals to loose weight with 21 and counting! Only 2 more sleeps until we all Spring Into Action and the Challenge starts
I’d like to join in too. I’m terrible at keeping up with these threads though so I apologise in advance if I’m MIA for a while. I promise to pop in and post when I can.
My goals:
- Lose 7kg (I’m 72kg now, I want to be 65kg, but I'll settle for 67kg).
- Run 10km in approx 1 hour (but I’ll settle for 80mins).
My steps:
- Eat less than 10g of fructose per day (i.e. not eat more than approx 4 teaspoons of sugar per day including sugar in processed foods and fruit).
- Eat more veges and protein, less carbs (especially white carbs).
- Run 4-7km 3-4 times per week increasing to 10-12km 4 times per week
- Enter myself (and DH) in a 10km fun run on 6th November. *DONE*
- Do not eat or drink: sugar, lollies, chocolate, bickies, cakes, buns, fruit juice or soft drinks. (OK I can have them but very rarely and only in tiny amounts).
- Do not buy processed foods. Make things from scratch.
I would've said I need lose 10 kg but having put on another 2, I'll make it 12kg-
I am a night eater, a baking eater, an ice cream and choc eater. So if I can stop most of that it'll help.
Also the boys go back to school on Thursday so I can get out for walks with the baby or do Yoga/ pilates at home.
I'll try for 3 days yoga/ pilates and 3 days walking a week.
I was so naughty today and made choc chip muffins Oh well, I've been so good lately but at least I got it out of my system before Thursday Hopefully I can get to the gym tonight then i wont feel so bad
Can't wait for tomorrow everyone So fantastic that we have so many people signed up!
Epacris , I know what you mean about threads like this, if you can try to at least drop in for a weekly update on your weight loss that will be awesome! and I will at least be here for inspiration or encouragement of whatever you need. It sounds like you've made a huge lifestyle commitment anyway Are you doing the sweet poison quit plan?
Just a suggestion for anyone trying to cut out white carbs or any carbs for that matter. Have you considered trying lots of different grains that aren't so common or even thought of? Things like quinoa, amaranth, millet, oats, barley, couscous, buckwheat, corn & vegetable, spelt or soy pastas, spelt or arrowroot flour, there's loads more I just can't think of them. Oh and how about some super yummy healthy bread from the health food shop. I buy Sprouted Grain Lifestyle bakery Spelt & Chia seed loaf YUMMMMM. I give this to DS too, it's got no flour, no added sugars, organic wholegrain, low gi, minimal processing, easily digested, free from flour, eggs, dairy, perservatives and additives. This is a GOOD carb and lovely for yout toast, no need to cut that out of your daily diet
kaytee I hope they are gone my Thursday naught naughty... You too munchkin-mumma! If only we could control ourselves.....
doubletrouble sounds like a great plan hon
Audax YAY another dedicated chic for this thread, so happy I'll be seeing you often. I'm already so inspired that you have lost so much weight!!
LittleMissSummer, you've got to start somewhere so it may as well be here, good on your joining, I'll no doubt be posting everyday so keep myself on track so you'll have loads of support
Mak I'm with you on the minful eating, I need to get organised. I feed DS super well so I think that if I just eat what he's eating I'll be right
minimatron, well done on the weight loss so far I'm sure you'll continue to keep loosing!
Onyx I don't think you are alone with those eating habits, so many people skip breakfast. I used to be one of them, now I LOVE breakfast. I think you can train yourself and your body to want it, you'll jut need to make that initial commitment to eat it every day. Maybe even something quick like a glass of milk, cup of yoghurt, fruit?
Sorry to anyone I missed, I was working my way back through the posts but ds has just woken up.....
The house is almost clean of tempters. Last night we finished the choc cake and the moon cakes. Checked the cupboards for hiding chippies etc and was happy to find nothing- Except the 2 bars of choc in the fridge. Those are for choc chip cookies for the kids. I'll just have to get some will power there I guess.
The lactation cookies- how bad are they for the diet? I was hoping with dried fruit they would be okay.
Last day of school holidays and of summer (offically) here.
Hehehe Cherished, I love this motivation! I'm feeling all naughty
No need to worry about the cookies hanging around tomorrow. DH had some - loves them - then I told them what they were for and he's gone to work worried that he's gonna start leaking milk DT, they've got quite a bit of butter and sugar in them, so they're not entirely healthy.
Exercise is good here! Bubs is getting back into napping again so I'm doing the workouts on my phone, and when she wakes up we'll be off for a walk.
Reckon tomorrow I might get my starting weight, then update it each Thursday.
Lactation cookies are my undoing! I am better with store bought stuff than baked stuff, because I don't eat as much of it.
I chatted with DH last night about this. He thinks 4 is a wussy number and I should go for 7. I don't know if 7 is do-able, but I will give it a red hot go.
Eating strategies:
* portion control - I used to get madly hungry in early BFing days, but now that she's feeding less, I really don't need so much.
* better snacking. Going to keep vegie sticks and homemade dip in the fridge at all times
* swap milky teas for herbals. With winter disappearing, I'll be swapping hot drinks for water anyway.
* take own morning tea to outings. Fruit bread, crackers and dip etc, rather than cake.
Exercise strategies:
* 30 minute walk every day (at least one)
* 3 other workouts, probably 2 cycling, one swimming
* At least one of the 3 has to be hardcore.
Motivators:
* being skinnier than SIL (works for me every time)
* looking great in a bikini
Rewards:
Trying to come up with something here. New jeans? Hardly a motivation in summer. New dress? Maybe. weekend away? If we can afford it. I'll keep thinking.
Hmmmm. I have been watching from the outside. Am I in or not? Ummmm, well, maybe……….
Yeah ok. I really do need to lose some of this weight, although it has come from my writing up my thesis - a different kind of baby And I did just join the gym at work. I think I am scared to step on the scales and take measurements!
OMG OMG OMG KRYSALYSS is IN!!!!! YAHOOOOOOOO I was secretly hoping that you would find this thread, lucky you did or you may have seen a pm from me in your inbox. SO happy you've jumped on board, you were so inspiring when I lost 8kg's in the pre Christmas challenge thread that you started not last Christmas but the one before Both you and snugbug totally keep me going YAY.
kaytee & doubletrouble I think the lactation cookies are OK, you are the judge of what you are eating anyway but hey I think a couple of cookies a day is fine, just as long as you don't go overboard and that is the only treat you are having
Audux, thanks for the reminder of the dips and veg sticks, I totally need to do that! I'm making so much food for ds that I'm sure I can whip up a few yummy dips for the fridge. mmmmm and flat bread cut up and baked in the oven is really nice to eat it with too.
nattyfred thats a decent effort, so hope you loose that 13kg in this challenge

Aww thanks for the welcome guys. Now I really feel obliged to be on board. Hmmm. I will have to think about my goals. I have started the C25K so that is a big one. I also want to get back down to 65kg (less if I can). Starting to feel excited now!
Check in day is Thursday so I will be making a post every Thursday with updates on progress, Tomorrow is the 1st day of Spring so the Challenge starts then
