Cheezel, there are heaps of great workouts you can do at home. I looked on you-tube when I needed a some inspiration for ab workouts and there were hundreds. I avoid the ones with fembots because they are depressing and do the boxing ones.
Also all the classics work just fine (push-us, sit-ups, lunges, squats, steps etc). Skipping is an amazing cardio work-out. Have you heard of the Wiggles workout? Basically you just watch the Wiggles with your littlie and do all the actions and dancing. Those Wiggles move a lot.

Pandora, thanks for mentioning water. I did well this morning but I've slacked off this afternoon.

I hurt today but on the plus side I cracked 4000m in under 20 minutes on the rowing machine this morning and while I was doing it I noticed at my 10 minute stop for water that my left arm was a bit tingly because my iPod holder was too tight and needed loosening. Yep, I have a bicep now

    Hello ladies,

Well after a daunting day at the doctor (telling me what I already know - that I need to loose a fair few KG's) ... I went out and brought a set of scales.

These tell you the following -

    BMI
Basal Metabolic Rate per 1Kcal (whatever that means)

    Displays Body Fat
    Water
Muscle Mass all to the nearest 0.1%

    So... Here goes....

I dont know if I like it ...already...

Start Weight 82.6kg... OK, not so bad considering I have just been on a cruise..... OK. OK No excuses Mel...
Body Fat Percentage 34.3 - HIGH...
Total Body Water Percentage 48.0 - OK - Although could be approved apon. Optimal TBW Range is 49-37%? says the book... might need to google this...
Basal Metabolic Rate 1625 - NO IDEA WHAT THIS MEANS YET! Think its got something to do with calories...?
Muscle Mass Index 33.5 - LOW - Normal muscle mass for a woman is greater than 34%
Body Mass Index (or BMI) 29.3 - OVERWEIGHT ... Why didnt that suprise me?)

I dont know whether I feel better for doing that or worse.....

Anyways, going to research on it. And when I get my pool I will be swimming every night for a couple of hours. And Im going to look at some meals I can eat when I cant be bothered cooking.

    Gahh, feel horrid now.....

Peace out for the moment until I post again... xoxox

try to feel positive that your taking steps to improve your future instead of hating on yourself for where you're at now.

FWIW I don't think that you should wait until you get your pool before you start to exercise a bit more. You should start trying to move everyday now and then when your pool arrives you'll be in the habit of taking regular exercise and you'll be able to step it up a notch.
Salads are a great easy meal for when you can't be bothered cooking. Sopdet has an awesome salad scheme going, she makes it in batches so it lasts a few days.

Onyx I'm not waiting to start exercising I'm doing light exercises at the moment. Swimming would be ideal. Due to my back problems this is what I've been advised to do. Wish I could do more ...

    HI Ladies,

I'm here & lurking, I'm reading, but have nothing motivational to post........... Going through a bit of a stress this week. Lots of things on my mind & happening. Really questioning myself about lots of things. Sorry, I sound all mysterious, I'll post later when I can think clearly.

Plus it's weigh day tomorrow. Freaking typical. I'll bet to add to everything else I put on. Exactly what I need to just make me feel that much grander. lol

Ok I brought a Back brace belt thingo today. Let's see how that goes.

Cooked a roast tonight. I have work tomorrow and I know that I am putting weight on because I'm not cooking, and just buying take outs! Namely a take out which includes frozen fanta! Naughty naughty! Anyways for lunch for the next 3days I have made Caesar salad with (tomorrow only) a roast beef and gravy roll. For snacks I have either Sesame snaps or the natural (mays) sesame seed squares. water is my friend during the day. I've cut down my cokes to one at dinner. From having up to six a day!!

    Well that's all for me!

    Good luck ladies! Xx

Going to have to be super quick sorry guys, as usual I am on my iPhone!

Onyx- woohoo for biceps! And wow, 4k on the row machine in 20 mins? I am super impressed I might have to try and beat that lol, I am super competitive sorry!

Mel- congrats on taking that HuGE first step, from here on you are rolling! I am a fan of the frozen drinks too, they are so hard to stop! We moved and so far in two weeks I havent had one because I haven't had to go past the drive through! Yay! Otherwise it was a really hard task not to just stop and get one

CM- don't be disheartened by your tummy measurement, for me that is the most stubborn one and is constantly up and down each week (it seems to vary greatly when I take the measurement too). Try taking hip, boobs and thighs as well and it will make you feel a whole lot better, I promise!

Jayne- sending you some ginormous hugs your way!

Have to go sorry guys! We are going to the opera house today to see a show for dd's 4th birthday, I am exhausted just thinking about it!

    Hi guys!
Onyx - That is greta on the rowing machine. I haven't been on one of those for years. Are they good for the tummy?
Melzi - I was in your position a couple of years ago but I lost 20 kgs and am now a lot happier for it. Put a little bit back on as I moved and took a while to find some exercise here but am reigning myself in again before I end up where I was. Take each day one at a time. If you don't seem to be shifting weight you may need to count your calories. I did that through calorieking which is free online and was amazed at where some of my calories go and what things weren't as bas as I thought. Good luck on your journey! Remember your weight is not who you are, it is just a part of your body make-up.
Jayne- Hope things are ok for you. Thinking of you.
Cheezel -Check out your local library as they often have exercise DVDs. I love the Crunch ones, especially the power pilates.
Apple - Have an awesome day!

Anyway I have still been eating pretty well. Last night we had some snacks while watching a movie but I also had soccer training which is 90 mins of pretty hard going so I should still be ok. Went hard at training and felt so much fitter than last time. Off to the gym today to do some cycling. Aiming for 40 mins but if I feel like it I might do a bit more.
    Take care!

    Good Morning,

Melzi - welcome to our little group. I'm sure you're going to find this thread really motivational & inspirational to get your weight back to where YOU want it to be. Congratulations on the trip to the Dr & all the low-down on your results - to me, that's a giant step in the right direction.

Onyx - Love that you now have some biceps!!! It's quite liberating isn't it? I have 'guns' now from the cross-trainer & I have to admit, I'm quite impressed with them! lol.

Kryalyss - The snacks sound nice with a movie - like a one-off treat & especially that you had soccer training, so you sort of cancelled it out. Did you go past your 40 min cycling goal? WTG if you did! Have you tried the rower at the gym? The first time I tried a rower I could barely steer my car on the drive home! pmsl

ZF _ Thanks darl, means a lot.

CheezelMonster - Everytime I see your name, I want cheezels!!! Lucky for me they are not in China. lol. Glad to see you back here with us!!!

AFM _ Well I have lost 300g this week. Which I know is not a real true reflection of my week. I went a bit crazy on the weekend & have generally been eating a little more than I usually do, but I am ashamed to say that yesterday all I ate was an apple & a kiwi - ALL DAY LONG. I know this can be just as bad as overeating. I was just stressed to the max. Usually I binge eat when stressed, but the last 18 months or so, my appetite just shuts off. I know I should have really gained weight this week, but I think the 300g came from not eating yesterday. I have been doing 9km sessions on the cross-trainer & I'm running 4 mornings a week now. One week I focus on distance, the next week I do intensity. I find this really works for me.

I'm just having some 'issues' atm all around. I'm missing my best friend so desperately that I find even texting her nearly has me in tears. Alan has worked past 8pm every night for the last 2 weeks & while I haven't a problem with having the girls on my own, I could be on my own in Aus but with my friends & family here too, you know? I moved here for HIM & he's not here. I did chat him about it last night, so I'm really hoping to see some improvements there next week. My parents also inherited an absolute truckload of cashola this week & my sister is so financially poor that I have been putting money into her account - knowing I won't be able to get it back. I can't really afford to to that, but you do what you can. You know? Anyway, my parents are now very, very, very wealthy people & I have NOT asked for money but Mum told me over Skype that my sister & I wouldn't get a 'brass razoo' (her words of it). That's fine, it's their money, but my sister is doing it REALLY tough & my BIL gets his arm amputated in the next 3 months, so he can't go back to work for at least another 5 months & here my parents are & won't step up & help her out. It's digusting. Then the landord or our chinese apartment showed up last night & wants our apartment back in ONE MONTH! Even though our lease doesn't expire til October, she is allowed to basically drive us out. She has offered us anythign we want furniture wise to get out as quickly & quietly as possible, but all the furniture under the sun doesn't help me if I can't find a suitable apartment! Grrr to it all. Then I wake up this morning & I feel as though a frog has taken up residence in my throats. Seriously!

Anyway, I just had to get it all out. Sorry for my rant. I know it's not diet & weight loss related. Sorry!

    xx

    Oh Jayne. Massive

Feel free to vent away in here. I do it all the time. You know, personal issues DO affect weight loss, so it IS relevant! Again, hugs to you. I wish I could make it easier. I feel sorry for your sister. She must feel REALLY loved by your mum (being sarcastic here!). At least she can be glad to have an awesome sister like you. You have such a big heart, sweety. And on the 'missing your friend'-side: I totally get you. I moved to OZ 3 and a half years ago for DP, and I miss my friends soooo much! It's really tough, and nothing people say can make me feel better. Some days are just rough.

I hope you feel better soon.

Jayne you poor thing. I find it so strange that parents can act like that. Mine would be helpful to their own detriment so I just can't understand it. Your sister is lucky she has you. Can she get help from centrelink - her DH should be able to get disability surely? I hope a new apartment is easy to find and your throat gets better soon - totally the last thing you need right now. I also hope your DH is able to cut back his hours a bit. I think I remember why you moved with the girls over there. You have made a huge commitment in moving. It is really up to him to honour that IMO. Sorry if I overstepped but I know how isolating it is to be in a foreign country. Thinking of you.

Thanks girls. Just totally sucks right now. I'm never usually a downer person, so I just felt odd posting about it all, but I had to just let it all hang out. I'm quite surprised that I did actually chat DH about it though. I usually just let things slide & hope that he finally twigs about things, but I sucked it up & just told him how I feel. He was very understanding & completely agreed with me, but saying & 'doing' are completely different things.

Oh well, I do have a woo hoo to accounce, I'm just in the process of buying Kylie tickets for my bestie who I miss desperately & myself. Can't BELIEVE she is in town the same time as I am!! Wooot! If Alan says anything he can bite my backside!!!! bahahaha He won't even be in Aus with me then. lol

That is awesome news!!! Kylie would be amazing in concert.

So I just got back from the gym. Did 5 mins warmup and then 40 mins on the bike and went 25kms so I am pretty happy with that. Was hoping for a bit closer to 30 kms but I think if I had pedalled my legs any faster the bike would have toppled over.
I may be brave and try the treadmill tomorrow Eeek!

Krysalyss - FWIW I find that jogging on a treadmill is so much easier than on land. I reckon you will do great!!! Even if you did a fast walk, then jogged for a couple of minutes, reduced back to a fast walk etc...? I had a tready in Aus & I would put my ipod on & I would jog one song, walk one song & I really enjoyed that. I just don't have stamina or endurance to jog continuously. 25km is a huge effort! Well done - you should be proud.

So, so, so, so, so looking forward to Kylie gig. I am going to have to visit itunes & download the album as I'm sadly not up to date with her. lol

Wow Jayne, that is a lot to have on your shoulders at the moment! I bet it felt good to talk to your dh, let's hope he listened and you start to see some changes! As for everything else you have going on, you are an incredibly strong woman and everything you are doing is entirely selfless, I have so much respect for you right now. You can only do as much as you can do though, trying to make up for others short comings can feel so endless and you can end up feeling like what you are doing is nowhere near enough. I am sure though that even if it's not being told to you, you are making an enormous impact. Sending you some more hugs, don't ever feel like you can't vent in here!

As for moving, what a complete PITA! Is your DH over there as an expat? Did you find your original place yourselves or where you given assistance? If you were given assistance, or he is being paid a housing allowance, ask for help and more money so you don't end up in a hotel. I work in hr and our expats pretty much get whatever they ask for, so don't hold back if you are worried about asking!

And yay for Kylie!! I went to her last concert and had an awesome time
