When I'm on top of things (which is not very often), I plan three or four dinners in advance and send DP shopping. I also plan a couple of fillings for sandwiches and make up a loaf of them and freeze them. Much easier than making them one at a time the night before.
As far as dinners go, I'm slowly building up a ringbinder of fast, yummy and easy meals to make and I'll choose from there OR from my recipe books OR from the many online sites. But I'm aiming to build up my ringbinder of tried and tested recipes.
For the shopping list, I do as a previous poster said and put headings in for meat, veggies, fruit, tins, dairy, freezer etc. and go through the recipes and put the ingredients under the appropriate heading.
DP has got some app on his iPhone that lets him browse recipes and then creates a shopping list for him so the paper list has gone out of the window a bit.
There's meant to be a new recipe book out of easy recipes and it says you'll only have to cook three times a week - meant to be written by a busy mum. I want to find that!
