Washing toys

do they have wash instructions? if not, i tend to do a warm gentle wash or if its a really delicate toy i hand wash it, then i put them on the clothes horse to dry

I didnt even think to look at their wash instructions..

I just dont want them to shrink or go funny.

any baby toys that are material/fabric i usually chuck in the washing machine, simple plastic toys can go in the top rack oof the dishwasher

Our playgroup put theirs through the dishwasher and they come out clean, so if they are ones that can have a hot wash try that.
I used to fill the sink with water and gently mix the toys around (if that makes sense) and I also found they came clean. Sometimes had to change the water a few times. If they have dirt in the cracks use a toothbrush as it doesn't scratch.
To dry roll in an old towel then finish drying outside with a bit of sun on them.

They are plush toys and i just washed a big rabbit and my god i hope bathing a child is easier than that was! the bloody rabbit soaked up all the water in the laundry sink. Hes not sitting in a chair looking sorry for himself LOL i had to stand on it to get all the water out of him..

I usually give the girls' plush toys a run through the washing machine on cold wash to preserve their colour (and they're sometimes made/contain synthetic fabrics that I fear might shrink or warp in warm wash), then just peg them up by an ear/tail/whatever on the clothesline and let the sunshine do its germ-killing work. HTH

I put ds's in a bra bag and in the machine on a cold wash. Then they get hung out on the line to dry in the sun!

bugger, i never even thought of that! - i just use warm wash cause of the "helps kill the bacteria" thing in my (warped) head

I received quite a few second hand plush type toys and I just threw them in the washing machine on cold cycle with detergent and also a splash of disinfectant. They came up looking brand new and I just dried them in the sun.
