hello still here and waiting with no luck yet pjo
Wishing you luck on your journey.
I may be out of line here - but according to your signature you aren't too old at all for intercountry adoption. It is usually taken on the prospective mother's age and so long as that is under 45 there are still several options available. I realise that there may be other factors which affect your ability to adopt but age isn't one for you just yet. I have a friend who recently adopted a beautiful little girl from Ethopia and while the process did take about 2 1/2 years she is the most gorgeous little girl - she was just on two when she arrived and they are both in their early 40s.
I just wanted to drop in and wish you the best of luck in achieving your dream. The adoption laws suck & the TTC journey can be a most difficult one later in life.
hello mupp we are to old to Adopted here in aust and oversea is some thing we did'nt think about untill 1 week ago and we are looking to over Adoption DH has always told me that he could'nt have a baby if he or she did'nt look aust thank you
hi saty yes Adoption dose suck here in aust they need to change the age limit to 45 not 43 thank you pjo
Actually legally in Australia there is no restriction on the age of adoptive parents through the local adoption system - this would be considered discrimination. I know quite a few people in their 40's that have been processed in a variety of Australian states for local adoption.
The majority of people applying for local adoption are in their late 30's and early 40's now.
There are still those in their early-mid 30's and even in late 20's that apply and it is possible that they are more likely to be placed with a child.
However DCOS and other services can not stop your application, they can advise against it but can not stop it unless for other reasons.
hello yes there is age limit here in NSW and your friends mine have start their adoption early then we have purjo
^ what Shades said - not cool
Anyways I think that since the 'stolen generation' inquiry they are very careful about who can adopt Australians.
hello shade hubby mean from another country like chineese thank you purjo

Sorry Dachlostar,
I think we had some assumptions and misunderstandings there - I assumed purlejo's DH was meaning he didn't want a child that didn't look like an Anglo, which is what a lot of people still mean when they use the generic "Australian". That's why I was trying to point out that you can't describe a typical Australian any more, we are all different colours and nationalities. When it comes to Indigenous Australians that is a different issue entirely, and you're right they're very careful about who can adopt the Indigenous children, rightly so. I myself would love to adopt an Indigenous child but I know I do not have the cultural background to do them justice in their upbringing in keeping with their heritage.
I hope that clears up my position somewhat.
*steps off soapbox*
hi sades thanks cyu purjo
Shades, I think you misunderstood me.
I should have said 'I agree with what Shades said'. It's my bad for not expressing myself clearly enough.![]()
Oh right! I knew there was a misunderstanding of some sort, I just wasn't sure which way it went!!My bad and I'm glad that's cleared up.
hi shades so iam glad that its cleared up to hon good luck with your next cycle in feb purjo
Actually Jo were on the NSW DOCS website there is no mention of age other than the parent must be 21 years old.
I am happy to be corrected if you can provide with the documentation from DOCS.To adopt a child in NSW you must be at least 21 years of age, resident in NSW and meet DoCS eligibility criteria for adoption applicants.
Shades and dachlostar I've got to agree with you, it sounds to me like Jo and her DH are not open to the concept of a child from a non-anglo saxon culture.
Oh well leaves children from transraical backgrounds to be adopted by families that are loving and open to them.
