As far as I know (I could be wrong), having PCO without PCOS is nothing to be concerned about... but it can mean that you have a slightly higher tendency to hyperstimulate while doing IVF.
Hmmm... not an easy topic to search for at all...

Hi all,
As part of investigations for our IVF cycle (male infertility), I have being diagnosed as having polycystic ovaries, but not PCOS which I'm very thankful for.
I got a little sheet from the lady who did my ultrasound, but have found it really hard to find any other info regarding PCO, as opposed to PCOS (which she stressed are two very different things).
Can anyone point me in the direction of some good sites etc?
Thanks
Tish

Hi Tish
BW hit it spot on!
I have one PCO (was previously misdiagnosed as PCOS but that is another story...)
From everything I have been told it is nothing to be concerned about - many women have it without ever knowing and is an indication that you are producing more than one egg regularly (think twins in a 'normal' pregnancy) but it does increase the risk of hyperstimulation while doing IVF so you will most likely be monitored more closely and started on lower than normal hormone shots just to see how you repond to them.
Try doing a search on Ovarian Cysts rather than on PCO.
My understanding is PCO is where you have the tendancy to develop cysts on your ovaries without all of the other icky things that come from PCOS like excess hair developement, diabetes etc.
I could be wrong - I didn't eactly have the best gyni in the world and have refused to see him again.
