I've got an appointment with my FS on Monday, getting some test referrals mainly. DH has convinced me to speak to him about a sizeable lump I have on my right side - I've ignored it over the past 12 months, as I'm pretty sure it's on the ovary but no-one's said anything during scans. It's causing considerable pain, not ALL the time but if I move the wrong way or if I'm ovulating on that side, which is why I believe it's on the ovary.
The thing is, given that it hasn't been mentioned before, and I am very large, I don't just wanna get another scan, I don't think it'll show up. A friend of mine, who is a dancer, was a size 8 when the cysts on her ovaries were seen on a scan - they said she had 5 on one and 7 on the other. When she had her lap, they removed 12 on one and 17 on the other! So even for her, it wasn't all showing up.
I know I can walk in there and tell him I want a laparoscopy. I definitely think it's warranted, given my history and size, and especially given the size of the lump. But what are the magic words to get him to bypass the scan and just do the surgery? Are there any magic words?
