I have just recovered from my lap, had about 2 weeks ago. I was trying to conceive for about 12 months, then had ruptured ovary and started having ovary pains. my gyno (thank god for him) suggested a lap as he said endo can cause infertility. i ended up having mild endo and now my period is late by nearly a week but the home tests are neg. so confused. can't get in to see my doc until next Tuesday, have a wedding on the weekend and just want to have a drink cause i'm so stressed... enough about me
i really would recommend having a lap, it's the only way to know if everythying's ok in there.
I agree with pp. I had the full work of tests and then the dye run and told I was all clear. told me one ovary looked a bit bigger but nothing to worry about. One side was blocked too but the other was ok so he thought good chance.. I was not happy and went for a second opinion. turned out the ovary on one side was bigger because it was encased in endo and the tube was blocked to the other" good "side, so no chance as it turned out .... anyway my new guy was wonderful said there was no point in doing any IVF without a lap and when I finally got refered to IVF, they did another one before they even started to check all the plumbing. ( this was 9 years ago)
good luck.. wont tell you how long we were trying but it was a very long time... hope your journey is shorter..
I agree to. We have been trying for 2 years with one early miscarraiage Nov 07. We went to see our OB about hurrying up the process of having a baby and he wont do anything for us until I have had a lap to check for possible endo.. I was actaully annoyed as I wanted to do IUI or something without the lap but he said there would be no point. Maybe you need second opinion and they might get you booked in for a lap! GL with your IVF and TTC journey
Thanks so much for posting all, I really appreciate it
I think I will look into a second opinion if we have no luck with our IVF cycle #2 which starts today
Hi Nicole, yes it is possible to have endo without much (or any) pain or usual symptoms. Endo can affect your chances of falling pregnant but the good thing is you know you have fallen pregnant before...I'm sorry about your m/c though
IMO, I would ask for the lap as it's the only way you can diagnose endo and as you've been TTC for awhile now, it makes sense to have the lap to rule endo out.
Best of luck with it and I hope you get a sticky one soon
