Wouldn't normally do this put Bump...... and advise would be greatly appreciated

Hi Ladies, I have been wanting to ask this question for some time now but have been too scared to post
DH and I have been TTC #1 since Feb 2005 with no success.
Everything test wise that we have done shows no reason why we can't get pg.......
I had one early MC in November 06 but nothing since.
I did have a Hycosy done and all tubes are clear but still no Baby
Have some pain during ovulation and passing of CM (sorry TMI)
My Periods are like clock work at 28-30 days max!!
AF lasts the usual 5 days 2nd day being the worst, but no need to take any pain meds.
We are about to start on our second STIM IVF cycle and have asked my FS on several occasions about a lap and if he thinks I could have endo but really does not see a real need at this stage to perform surgery.
I guess my questions is could I still have Endo? And could this be the reason why we can't get UTD?
Thanks in advance for popping in and reading this post![]()

I have just recovered from my lap, had about 2 weeks ago. I was trying to conceive for about 12 months, then had ruptured ovary and started having ovary pains. my gyno (thank god for him) suggested a lap as he said endo can cause infertility. i ended up having mild endo and now my period is late by nearly a week but the home tests are neg. so confused. can't get in to see my doc until next Tuesday, have a wedding on the weekend and just want to have a drink cause i'm so stressed... enough about me
i really would recommend having a lap, it's the only way to know if everythying's ok in there.
I agree with pp. I had the full work of tests and then the dye run and told I was all clear. told me one ovary looked a bit bigger but nothing to worry about. One side was blocked too but the other was ok so he thought good chance.. I was not happy and went for a second opinion. turned out the ovary on one side was bigger because it was encased in endo and the tube was blocked to the other" good "side, so no chance as it turned out .... anyway my new guy was wonderful said there was no point in doing any IVF without a lap and when I finally got refered to IVF, they did another one before they even started to check all the plumbing. ( this was 9 years ago)
good luck.. wont tell you how long we were trying but it was a very long time... hope your journey is shorter..
I agree to. We have been trying for 2 years with one early miscarraiage Nov 07. We went to see our OB about hurrying up the process of having a baby and he wont do anything for us until I have had a lap to check for possible endo.. I was actaully annoyed as I wanted to do IUI or something without the lap but he said there would be no point. Maybe you need second opinion and they might get you booked in for a lap! GL with your IVF and TTC journey![]()
Thanks so much for posting all, I really appreciate it
I think I will look into a second opinion if we have no luck with our IVF cycle #2 which starts today![]()
Hi Nicole, yes it is possible to have endo without much (or any) pain or usual symptoms. Endo can affect your chances of falling pregnant but the good thing is you know you have fallen pregnant before...I'm sorry about your m/c though
IMO, I would ask for the lap as it's the only way you can diagnose endo and as you've been TTC for awhile now, it makes sense to have the lap to rule endo out.
Best of luck with it and I hope you get a sticky one soon![]()
Nicole, wow I didn't realise IVF started today good luck!
The answer is yes, you can have no pain and everything you mention above and still have endo.
I have a fairly regular cycle, no pain at O or near AF, regular periods, CM etc but on an exploratory lap they found severe endo. The only symptom was IF.
I wonder why this is. If you have unexplained IF then to me that reads they haven't yet been able to determine why you haven't yet been able to conceive. Endo can be one of those reason, as well as it could be other issues not related to endo.
Hun, if you don't have any luck this IVF cycle then I reckon it would be worth having an exploratory lap. TBH I am suprised your FS hasn't gotten you to have one before now. Endo can be treated in a number of ways that can also help TTC and many women find natural pg success after having it treated but that isn't guaranteed. A problem with undiagnosed endo is the damage it can be doing to your pelvic region if it goes untreated (scaring, adhesions etc). Now there is still a big likelihood you don't have endo, but it is worth checking out IMO.
The U/S during your cycle should be able to determine if you have any endometriomas (bloody cysts in the ovaries) as well as at EPU they can sometimes come across signs when they draw out the follicle fluids.
Please don't be affraid to ask questions on here Nic. Being armed with information and knowledge can help you get the best medical treatment and advice possible. I am really glad you decided to ask your question
xx
it certainly is possible. I have endo and have had it pretty much from when i had a m/c in 2002. mine started out with ovulation pain, but slowly progressed to the point where i had it on my cervix (sorry if TMI!).
we were TTC for almost 2 years before we got something done about it and finally (!) fell pg...
i would be seeing a specialist that will have a looksie for you.
HTH!
Thanks Laranna, Clare & Dusty for all the advise.
Dusty I didn't realise that there could be signs of Endo in the fluid at EPU...will ask the FS about that one.
To be honest ladies I am really scared about having a lap done, the thought of going under scares the living crap out of me. Even my last EPU I was only given twilight sedation as I didn't want a general.
I know that if that is something that I need to have done I will have no choice, but I just hope that I don't have to go down that surgery path..and yes I am a BIG chicken.
The end result will be worth it but am still scared...

I hear you Nic. It really do know how it seems all too scary. I absolutely hated the idea of a general too as I had a negative experience 23 years ago. BUT modern anaestetics is so so much better and my experience with the 2 laps was better than anything I could have hoped for.
Anyways there is a good chance you wont have to worry about this after your cycle is completed :goodluck2:

It's very normal to be scared Nic...the lap was my first ever operation (I was 28) and I was $h!t scared! However, I was so relieved after it was done to find out the reason for all my period problems, still devastated that I had endo though. Having my appendix out at 18 weeks pregnant was even scarier!
Hopefully, this IVF cycle is the one for you and you won't need the surgery![]()
